So a lot of classes provide an off-hand slot, but don't use it, Paladin and crafters/gatherers being the only ones. Wouldn't it be interesting if they added new off-hand items that allowed all of the other jobs to augment their design, in a minor, but non-gamebreaking way? Here are some thoughts, let me know what you think and if it seems likely or seems interesting.
All items could have basic stats like an increase in Crit or HP or be something job specific, like listed below.
Monk - Wrist Guards
Wrist Guards could augment a monks playstyle by adding added benefits to their fist moves, like an added 1-3% on top of whats already given, or when in a certain stance have a better chance of dodging to perform moves like Haymaker, or just make Haymaker useable on its own.
Warrior - (Handle) Grips
Grips could help warriors maintain or gain stacks faster, like maybe moves become useable with fewer stacks, or the bonuses are increased a little, like 1-2% or so.
Dragoon - Dragon Eyes (like jewels not real ones, although...)
Eyes could augment a Dragoons strength with their inner dragon, help you maintain Blood of the Dragon, or increase the lengthy of their battle utility, like battle litany.
Ninja - Kotodama/Ofuda (Paper Tags)
Ofuda or those paper tags you see anime characters use could help power up a ninjas moves, like guaranteeing an item when using mug adding elemental damage to their moves, or making buffs like suiton last longer.
Bard - Arrows (the obvious choice, lol)
Arrows are a given but how could they be used, maybe they could allow for more procs to offset the Wanderers Minuet, with "poison" tips increase yhe DoTs duration or potency by a mionr bit, or add an additional effect to songs, like a slight regen when using all songs.
White Mage/Black Mage -Charms
Charms could help the speed mages by reducing certain cool downs, especially Benediction, or increasing the chance for certain procs, like thunder or fire.
Scholar/Summoner - Quills (Got thks from another poster)
Quills could help the crit mages by augementing the pet you summon, summon your pet with 5% more power, or higher chance to crit for the procs, or effect certain Aetherflow moves.
Dark Knight - ??? (Not sure for a name)
Whatever Dark Knights get/use could help them with their regain MP faster, or Parry faster and more often.
Machinist - Ammo
Similar to Bards, ammo could help increase their DoTs, or augment their Turrets with added or more specified moved, like a small regen or a slow effect.
Astrologian - Decks
Decks are a big think for the Astro so having them as an off-hand weapon makes sense. Decks could adjust the RNG of what cards you draw, tired of always getting the spire, use this deck, need more bole draws use this one, and so forth.
What does everyone think? These arent like what I would think these items would have to be, just ideas I had floating around in my head, for minor customization.
Oh also the buff would be minor, but SE could make it so that the off hand is either invisible or the stats dont show so that no one gives anykne else any flack for their choice of item used. At least formthose unaware of that perticular item.
