    Want to try Scholar but...

I've been interested in trying scholar for awhile, I've been leveling AST for a bit to get used to healing and stance dancing with cleric stance, and I think I do alright.

My issue is, I've been reading on here about how much micro management SCH is. I play on PS4 with a controller. Is Scholar simply not an option given limited buttons?

If playing SCH wasn't your first choice when you started playing, it takes some practice to use the job with the PS4 controller, but it is completely doable by creating hotbar sets to suit your needs as comfortably as possible. I have been playing a SCH on PS4 since the start so I can't speak to the actual difficulty others have expressed. The good thing is that you've been playing as a AST so you have an ideal of how you want your healing abilities to be positioned. Micromanage isn't that difficult either, and while I don't advocate macro usage personally, there's tons of people around that can help you if you feel you need macros to condense hotbar sets.

I feel like people make a much bigger deal out of micro managing than it actually is. Keep your Fairy on obey, place it (if necessary) and then it's really just like having 3 more abilities on a job. It's not like you're constantly moving your pet or needing to change it's commands. Outside of Fey Wind, you don't even need to worry too much about timers because a lot of their spells are situational.

As for playing on pad, I used to so I can definitely vouch for there being enough slots to play comfortably. You just need to be smart about where you place your most used spells. And while macros are definitely not the way forward, you should macro things like Selene/Eos spells together so you don't need extra slots per fairy. Apart from that, maybe Physick macro'd with Embrace but that's up to you.

It is totally viable on PS4. My main is SCH and I'm on PS4. To play the class to its full potential, you will need macros IMO. I literally wrote a guide on it (in my signature), primarily focusing on the faerie.

Everyone will tell you otherwise, but honestly, micromanagement is really not important unless you want to do the absolute best you can do, and you won't even need to utilize your full potential in anything under savage.

Even in A4 normal, i just put her in the middle and let her do her thing because the AI gets the gist of what it's doing, so i let it.

(Honestly, with my lack of coordination i often fumble trying to switch between my bar and hers and i end up wasting valuable time, so i just leave her be unless she needs to be moved.)

Honestly the micromanaging is mostly used on Eos. Selene can be left on sic without a care in the world unless you really need to hold onto that aoe esuna.

Instead of macr ing stuff together which makes one use macros in fight, you can make macro which, while summoning one pet, also places that pet specific skills to your hotbar. That way you use macro in situation when you summon the pet (usually out of fight and not that often) but in fight you'd still use plain skills.

If you say 'pls' because it's shorter than 'please', I say 'no' because it's shorter than 'yes'.

I just wanted to second this. You will need to micromanage if you want to get the most out of SCH, but honestly you can let the fairies do as they will in most content and it won't be to any major detriment.

    I don't understand anti-macro.

I macro the two important spells of each fairy - making sure they come to me and use them asap. The other spells are just "meh" and aren't super important. I was finding Selene using her speed boost at inopportune times.

Also, if you haven't already, customize your R2/L2 so that when you hold one down and press the other you open up more options.

SCH is TOTALLY doable on ps4. Don't be scared - it's actually fairly simple, and the lving process really allows you to get used to everything.

Thanks for all the encouragement, guys. Definitely going to give SCH a go in earlier content and see how it goes. While I enjoy healing on AST, I find the playstyle a tad passive for my tastes. Mostly just annoyed with the cards and shuffle giving the same thing I just tried to get rid of constantly.

One other question I have, does Cleric Stance effect the Faerie as well as myself?
