Just bought a plot - How long is it good for?

So our FC just bought a plot for our house and we're like a few hundred thousand short to get the permit. Will we lose our plot if we can't build the house right away?

there is currently no time limit on how long you can take to build a house. Time limits will come with 3.1. When it is implemented it'll be 45 days. So you have until Christmas day if 3.1 drops on schedule.

I know you have to ENTER your house to reset the clock and avoid foreclosure, but do you have to build one within that 45 days?

Yup. It has to be built within 45 days or else you lose the plot. It follows the same rules as if there was an estate built; you get 80% of your gil back that you collect from the caretaker.
