I agree with the new system, but I also agree 45 days may be too quick-ish for a personal house. I would have rather seen them go for 90 days.

That being said, I still maintain the stance that if you are only going to play sporadically, you don't need a house. A FC private room will suit you just fine. Leave the feature for people who actively play and want to use it on a regular basis.

Fact is they don't have the server infrastructure to put out enough housing for every person who has ever, or will ever, subscribe, therefore, house reclamation is completely necessary to ensure that anyone who does not currently own a house has any chance of ever owning one. Adding more wards, by itself, unless they could add enough for every single person and every single alt and every single FC on every server, is also going to 'not resolve anything'.

But, the perfect is the enemy of the good. There is no perfect system and mindlessly shouting down any steps taken to make the system better is completely foolish. If only perfection will satisfy you, then you will never be satisfied, and housing will never get better at all.

A combination of new wards as necessary and reclamation is the best we can hope for, and it's exactly what SE has promised us with reclamation coming in 3.1 and ishgardian wards coming. . . eventually.

The reclamation is a step in a process of resolving it. Just because it is not the "huge step" that people want doesn't mean it isn't a step. I'm not disagreeing that more couldn't be done, just I don't see the point in complaining about a clear step in that process with what I believe, to be a fair timeline.

And no, I've never seen anyone I personally know take a 45 day break , and even if they do take a long break they usually log in once in a while to chit chat or check on things. Either that or they don't come back.

So what you are really saying is you would like it to be a longer timeline, but you are fine with the concept of the system itself? That is fine you can have your opinion on that, but personally I think 45 is the "just right" point, it affords opportunity to un-sub for a month if you are really that tight on cash (Which is a whole separate ball of wax, in which I question where your priorities are if this is the case) They send a courtesy reminder email, even refund some of the gil etc... (non of which they Have to do.)

Basically what I see is, them attempting steps forward and people getting upset about it. There is clearly more steps that can be made, but assuming they aren't working on it or it isn't coming fast enough or w/e is just pointless, you don't work there, you have no idea how the teams are split up, or how much resources they are able to afford putting into this portion of the game. Especially when there are many other aspects people want worked on as well or the complexity that may be involved with it.

In short, They made a step, I don't see the problem, I'll take a step over no step.

Yes, yes they do. Adding another 100, 200 locations that players might be won't mean a fart in the wind to the server load. If they really wanted to do them selves a favor they would stop pulling market board orders every damn time I call a retainer. Having to repopulate the market board like that must really be fun on packet requests. Considering the amount of dungeon instancing in this game, Gridania Ward 205 would be nothing to manage.
