Square Enix has given up on real gameplay

You can sit there and have your character powerleveled to almost 50.

You can press one button 1000's of times to level your craft to 50.

    Has SE given up?

Think of a single-player RPG whose combat and leveling experience was so enjoyable, you actually craved more! Think of how satisfying it was to gain a level and have access to more powerful abilities, spells, equipment. Think of what drove you to attain more for your character.

This type of experience is completely lacking in FFXIV and instead of fixing it with superior gameplay, SE has simply thrown in the towel. They've decided to simply make leveling a stupid easy no thought required process which is only a means to an end. In doing so they have sucked the life out of the RPG experience, which is to grow your character and gain satisfaction from doing so - to take your character on a journey.

There are no journeys in FFXIV, only destinations.

I'm not saying the gameplay is not there at the end but why can't it be there the entire way through? Its abhorrent that you can literally one button press your way through an entire craft. Why couldn't there be a more elegant enjoyable solution? Why is there no feeling of advancement? Why would people rather powerlevel than enjoy the journey to 50?

I agree the PL situation is sad to say the least, but then I'm more concerned what end game content they add than the actual leveling itself.

There is no journey for us oldies. We've walked through the places tons of times now for it not to be 'magical' anymore. We've grinded the same leves and drained the world dry when there was nothing to do it in but grind.

Now enter a phase where we're actually getting content and stuff to do, well, it takes from the experience a lot to not be a newbie exploring the vast lands and earning a chocobo, etc.

You can, but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to.

I for one use leves and craft my own tools. Much more enjoyable than mashing A for a few hours.

As for fighting classes, leves, quests, and parties in my own level range.

This I can agree with. We simply need more content. More areas to see, more dungeons to crawl, more artifacts to find, and more quests to conquer. And those will constantly be added. Especially with the new Guild Company system.

I agree with the OP, I have no motivation to play any more, levelling is mindless, there is no random content, just mainstream content and there is still an empty world. Let's hope the map redesigns will change the last one atleast.

Because I already got LNC and ARC to 50 before the patch and I don't want to dedicate another 2 months to getting the next class to 50.

That was the promise of the physical levels, getting to 50 physical level would make ranking up other classes easier than starting from scratch. But SE removed physical level, now a new player level 0 in all classes would level at the same speed as a player who is rank 50 in 2-3 classes. Power leveling compensates for this problem by allowing an established player with friends who help him/her level faster.
