    Gear coloring temporary fix poll

Now I know some people will claim I just want to draw attention to my post, but I guess this is the best solution to give the Devs a quick overview of what solution the posting community prefers. (see http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...lasses./page35 ).

Please like this post if you think:

    1. Add recipes for “Finished product + Dye” and add items for each additional color
⇒This is a temporary solution, but color and stats will be clearly separated
⇒The only problem is that it will take a long time to add all of the items
    is the better solution.

Please like this post if you think:

    2. Remove class restrictions for colored gear until the Color ID system is ready
⇒The number of items will not increase greatly, so this could be implemented more quickly
⇒Stats will have to be sacrificed for color choices (this can be balanced by Materia)
    is the better solution.

    Annotation:
Option 1 is a lot more development-time intensive and costly, but it will assure all stat / color combinations will be available even before the final system is in place.

Option 2 is a lot easier to implement and will mean that, just like now, each color will be associated with certain stats, but class restrictions will temporarily be lifted. E.g.: melee characters will be able to wear "green" stuff for cosmetic reasons, but doing so will mean they sacrifice the more appropriate stats "red" gear provides for their role.

Most of all, however, please remember that both solutions are just temporary until the new system, which will allow for free and easy combinations of stats and colors on any gear, is in place. So the basic question is: Do you want a small improvement immediately and the final remake earlier, or a bigger improvement soon and the final remake later?

P.S.: I also believe "do nothing now, just focus on implementing the final system ASAP" should be on the list. But sorry, this option was not presented by the developers. Arguably, however, Option2 is closer to that standpoint than Option1, as it requires less development resources.

Color should have nothing to do with stats, except possibly elemental properties (this is mostly mage stuff...a fire staff should obviously have fire element stats). The Cobalt equipment is a perfect example of how NOT to do this. What about the color red makes you hit just SLIGHTLY better/harder? Major stats like that should be added by materia, not crafting... Otherwise, you make gear that is just worse by default.

Every piece of equipment should have a handful of colors that it can be dyed. Every single one of those items should have the same stats. If you want to make it into specific gear, equip it with whatever materia you want.

Rejoice. Thet's right what they have planned for the final system. The question is just: until then, what should they do?

I think yoshi-p should do what he think is best, I have no issue with waiting.

Would sooner they took their time and made a solid system than a rush job that causes them issues further down the road (which is funnily enough what we have at the moment)

Option 2. It will take less time from the devs so they can get the real solution down.

I'd rather them release a finished product instead of rushing out stuff... look where that got Tanaka.

Keep it as is since they already said it's going to be changed. I can deal with it for a couple of months.

Interesting. Seems like on so many things, opinions are actually split.
