EU move added 150ms, can no longer tank - suggestions for a new main?

So, the switch has killed my ping and essentially made it impossible to tank. Switching servers takes me away from my friends and the estate I've built up, and proxies are a no-no where I live. So, options, people? Is there a DPS class out there that sits well with high latency? I used to main Dragoon before emigrating, so know that isn't any option. Any other suggestions?

Bard? I mean, no one really expects much from a BRD in terms of DPS.

Can't tell if that's sarcasm, lol. How useful are the buffs? Does it cut it as a support class still?

What's your new total ping?

I play on about 200ms on average, and any job is playable, though it takes adjusting, especially when it comes to dodging ground AoE and knowing when you can move without interrupting a cast. Lag spikes will also occasionally happen and kill your combos or cause weird stuff to happen like say, an ogcd entering cooldown but its effect not applying. 99.9% of the time, however, it works fine.

Almost 400ms. I'm guessing the new rig is in France, because it's about the only big EU country that I route poorly to. (Having lived there, that's no real surprise.) Had it been London or Berlin, I'd be around the 200ms mark, the same way I was to Canada.

Uh. I know my ping is nowhere that high and I did a test on my bard yesterday (to test the new latency, since it increased for me too).
Mine's under 200ms still though. I didn't notice any lag on my skills (thought I did but it was just low TP LOOOL)

DID notice the mudra lag though. Ouch man.

The new kit is in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) but it appears that there's already routing and congestion issues. I have a ping circa 30ms from the UK but at least 10% packet loss. Luckily I play on a NA Server or it'd be terrible!

Honestly surprised to hear that. I get a clean 220ms to Berlin.

Potentially it might improve, then? Guess I'll work on that assumption...

To answer your question any job that does not need constant combos for its dps: Summoner, Blackmage, Bard or Machinist. I can only speak for bard as I don't have machinist unlocked but I assume it plays the same. On monk and dragoon, lag can cause combos to register slow and screw up your dps.

Ouch, 400ms is brutal. You can wait to see if they'll adjust things due to congestion (which is highly likely, it is still a new data center). With that ping though I would not recommend Black Mage as you will need to be on the ball with moving out of AoEs to avoid getting hit with that kind of ping, and BLM is not mobile, so getting targeted by AoE means you have to move immediately and this will screw you over. Your ping will also do a number on your ability to refresh Enochian and fit spells under Astral Fire/Umbral Ice effectively and your DPS will suffer. Summoner should be less problematic.
