Question about playing on a PS4 controller

I wanted to try playing this game on a PS4 controller as opposed to a mouse and keyboard and I have a question.

How do I assign hotbar keys to controller button combinations? I cannot figure this out by googling or using the interface menu. The gamepad hot key options in the interface menu doesn't give me enough key combinations to use all my abilities.

When you are in your actions/traits screen, or in any other screen where you would want to key-bind something, press Square to bring up a key-bind interface. From here, just press the button combination you want to use for that ability. If you are in a screen like the inventory where this doesn't quite apply, you can use the touch pad or a USB mouse to drag and drop the icon. With the touch pad, move the cursor over the item and tap the touch pad to "pick up" the icon, then drag it over to the desired slot and tap it again to place it.

You can also turn on virtual mouse mode - I think it's l1+r3? (Press the right analog stick). If you pull up the start menu, it'll say the combo. L2 acts as your click in that mode. I tried the touch pad, but was not a fan, so I disabled it.

Open your job actions/skills page and then press square. It will then prompt you to choose a button combination for the action you chose.

Also you can still use the mouse to drag and drop actions even in gamepad mode.

just make sure you have the cross hotbar enabled.

It applies the same for inventory items (or macros, or emotes, etc) as it does for Actions. Select an inventory item, press square, choose "Set to Hotbar", and press the button combination you want to use for that item.
