    new players making money...ouch.

I just recently re-rolled on a new server to play with a couple friends. It didnt take long until i hit around my teens level-wise before i needed to upgrade my gear (seeing as how it counts way more....and it shows)

the problem? prices are sky high on even the low end gear. 50k for a brass spear? 70k for a basic harness? making money off of leves really doesnt cover it anymore and NPCing stuff barely helps. Im now on the Lindblum(sp?) server. If someone like me who knows how to play this game is having a VERY hard to making gil to buy things....how is it for actuall new people?

i can imagine people getting frustrated quick because that lvl 10 or 15 piece of gear is WAY out of their league price wise. I really think this is going to hurt anyone who jumps into this game fresh, or comes back and isnt loaded in the pockets (i was rolling with 2mil on my character on mysidia)

any new players or fresh rollers having troubles too>

Freshly made character, transferred 4 million onto my new character, and I am currently at 4.3mil in currency.

I have been doing tonnes of quests, and have found a very lucrative money maker which is easily doable at any level, providing you can creatures up to around rank 10

No issues here, as I haven't even dipped into my actual sent gil yet.

The current economy works both ways.

Iron ingots have been selling for 3k on the Marketplace. They cost 1,5k bought from NPC.

Shards can net you 50k for 15mins of leveling.

Low level equipment sells for substantial profit in the wards, even when made through NPC mats.

I've made 200k so far, and my friend who gathers a bit has made 800k or so. Both of us started from scratch.

Everyone complains about the cost of weapons/armor but nobody cares to notice the cost of materials

On our server, a few hours of farming the Ewe's right outside the gate in limsa can make you a mil.

There really shouldn't be too many problems making gil as a new player now. A good portion of items that are, and will be, selling for decent amounts are available at 1-10. Pick up a sledgehammer, wand or sword and go outside LL.

"You don't stop playing when you get old, you get old when you stop playing!"

Punctuation is your friend. It deliniates the difference between "Let's eat, Grandma!" and "Let's eat Grandma!"

For a year, people have had absolutely no gil troubles in this game because leves gave out currency like candy and the economy was completely stagnated so there was nothing to spend on except fluke HQs. 1.19 brought a purpose for NQ equipment in the process of conversion and also slashed the leve gil handout further since 1.18 initially did it.

People are feeling poor now because there is actually demand in the economy. We are going to have to work for currency in FFXIV now. As someone already said earlier in the topic, some effort put into farming garnered a lot of gil. Inb4 "MMORPGs shouldn't be work and forcing players to do anything other than have fun is not what they want to pay for."

i think part of it is how often things are changing right now. recipes, drops, monsters and their spawns. Stuff keeps changing so keeping the econemy stable (especially with no way of knowing how much things are worth at a quick glance makes things all wonky (saw a piece of gear for 7k and 5 listings down 50k)

make your money now folks, its just going to keep flip floping until the games in a stable condition (less major changes like the map and classes and all that)

I think a very profitable way to make money right now is to make low level gear and sell it for reasonable prices - there are many people with the same problem as Zanfire, and I think that higher level players can both help these players out and make a fair return on their effort at the same time.

There are a lot of lv 1-20ish gears that sell by npcs in adv guild. Try to check it, it might lot cheaper than in ward.
Also, shard farming is a good source of money too.
Try to buy thing from npc and sell in ward is good too.
Or, If you like, go mining, logging and sell raw mat.
Or try go fishing and craft fish to shard and sell it
You can also go to Limsa and buy fish from npc and use alc to make shard without need of fishing, but you might to calculate cost-profit first.

Don't bother leveling other doh job...it using lot of money and low level gear didn't sell well.

Almost forgot, you can buy skin ( sheep, dodo, aulgoat etc ) from grinadia and sell them in uldah. There are lot of lazy rich crafters and lazy to read crafters too.

Use this update list to find what item sell by which npc. You will amaze that lot of item can buy from npc at very lower price than ward
