Hahaha! While I have a rather flexible idea of masculinity myself I'm not sure that even I want to parade around in my underpants for the festival period.

(Thank goodness that I have the Eerie pants from before. My alt will have to go pantsless or improvise.)

Been doing some 1.0 stuff and a lot of the gear looked well on both genders regardless who wears it. There are exceptions but from testing various stuff I never got the impression that they specifically design something for females and copied it over to males. Now, the gear itself was quite plain so that may be also it, but clothing IRL and in history is pretty plain except for ceremonial purposes. With some examples given in this thread (IE: AST) it seems they designed for one gender and copied to the other waaaay more often to cut corners.

Let's not turn this into a debate about social issues - regardless of what anybody things of them they shouldn't interfere with something like this. It can't be denied that there's a lot of players who enjoy dressing up their characters in clothing that they believe fits their character based on modern societal norms. There's a lot of acceptance shown towards female characters dressing up in dresses and gowns so it's only fair that male characters get some neat gear specifically designed for their gender alone so that they, too, can indulge in the fun.

I think the complaint is that the set works well for women without having to hunt down matching pants to go with it. Where as male characters have to.

Not to mention the female version of it is a unique bodypiece, and the male version is literally a coatee reskin with an added pumpkin.

The women and men in my FC talk about this far more than we should. There is far to much girly gear. Heck there are very few tank sets are not a dress/long skirt. Some of us (melee, ranks, physical ranged) would like to look like we can actually fight in the gear we are using. I like robes/dresses on my caster jobs because it looks right to me. However having stuff that I can trip on while trying to be a big scary warrior is really odd.

Then there is the male only gear which almost always looks terrible..... all three pieces of it.

Well, to translate what I think OP wants: can we have more functional over pretty looking gears?

To which I add: I probably have a completely different point of view from OP but I like too see characters with different styles and something that is really missing are more simple, pratical looking gears.

I find it okay to have the AF being as iconic and flashy as they can be but add more through glamour options starting from what the game lacks. I think we all can agree with this, as it in time will make everybody happy, can't we?

Thank you, that's exactly it. Not enough that the female top is actually a unique short dress, not enough that as such it works well without actual pants equipped, not enough that the male top is a simple reskin (AGAIN, just like with the Valentione outfit) - male top is just that, a top, that does need pants unless you want to run around in your underwear, and that's still not enough as the set itself does not include pants at all to go with it. Because, oh, why care about male characters that's roughly half of them all out there (according to census data)?...

While I agree with Aska that the pieces we have look nice in general, making the set as they did was a very poor design decision. Especially keeping in mind how badly (and how many times) male characters have already gotten shafted when it comes to clothes, especially glamour outfits.
