In my opinion, housing should be used by active players. You aren't active if you aren't playing. And you get back 80% of the purchase price if it is abandoned. And if you don't log on in time to get that, why are you complaining about the loss of virtual real estate in a game you aren't even playing?
Are you serious? I'm guessing you've never been deployed or had financial issues or been severely sick or injured? For the people who have its a real kick in the gut to come back to the game you love and discover your stuff is gone. Especially since the time limit for demolition and retrieving your items is so short. 45 day before demolition, 35 days before your stuff disappears. Sounds like crap considering the average deployment is at least 3-6months and is usually far longer. No telling how long someone will be in the hospital after a serious illness or a bad accident. What about when someone's computer breaks down and they need to save up for the sudden expense. There's the dedicated college kids/adults how play during the summer and on holidays while they focus the rest of the time on their work. There are literally hundreds of different reasons life could force you away form the game for an extended period so why should players be punished for dealing with real life? I certainly wouldn't want to continue playing a game if I came back and all the stuff I'd worked so hard for was gone.
