Making the cap job specific is kind of silly, really. It's not going to encourage people to gear more jobs and honestly most people don't have trouble gearing more than one job, there is a thing called Alex normal that gives 190 loot and Savage with 210 gear. As someone with 4 190+ classes I dont really see what the point would be and for one it's already annoying capping 450 tomes a week why the heck would I wanna do that more than once a week

Just because you dont wanna do it, does not mean other people would not be encouraged to do more grinding to gear alt jobs.

Then again the said pinks can be better than anything you can buy with tomes, if you're lucky.

I suppose there's a semi-valid argument that allowing tomestone lockouts per job would allow people to gear up faster than normal and throw off the curve (eg: If you're a White Mage main, you could use your weekly cap on the Seraph Cane and Orison gear, and then level up Astrologian or Scholar to buy your belt and accessories on a different cap).

But I can't see any possible reason whatsoever not to at least allow people to have a separate cap on "Tank" Tomestones that buy tank gear, "DPS" Tomestones that buy DPS gear, and "Healing" Tomestones that buy Healing gear - and it wouldn't really upset things to go a step further and have "VIT", "STR", "DEX", "INT", and "MND" Tomestones that buy gear for all classes that use each of those main stats.

The only reason to consolidate lockouts, in my mind, is if separating them would actually accelerate the gearing process for any particular job. The current system does nothing but discourage you from playing more than one job/role per character, when being able to do so should be one of the stronger features of the game. And as far as I can tell, there's no actual benefit, to the players or to the game as a whole, in limiting the weekly caps this way.

    .
someone else had made a thread asking for this exact thing, except you added the further step of having more tome stones. the main problem your has is it locks people out of gear that "isnt" for them(i.e tanks using slaying). then there is when someone has extra tomes that they have nothing left to buy for that job.

Even though i'm not as far into the game that i have to worry about lockouts i have to agree with this idea. This would be a really good thing.

Well see, now this is why I said that it really only works if jobs don't share gear.

I hate the lockouts as it is. If it takes 11 weeks to equip 1 job, why would I even want to try and equip another afterwards? At the next patch all of that work is outdated anyway. It really doesn't seem to do any good at all. Far better I think that if you wish to play and have the time, and the additional jobs at level 60, you should be able to do it.

Let's first assume that you could only buy the gear for your current max level role, because otherwise someone with all 13 jobs would be geared within one week by using all jobs to buy gear for a single job. A massive advantage.

Then a tank, say PLD, could use the tank lockout to get 1 piece and a DRG/MNK lockout to get another. Someone who only has their tank (DRK) leveled would be at a disadvantage because they would not be able to buy the dps accessories.

This could be solved by making gear only be able to worn by the appropriate job, but what about tanks who like dps accessories? I think they would have to change how parry and vit work for tanks before forcing tanks to use such gear.

If you were talking about Alexander normal gear though, that could have a bigger loot cap imo since it's casual content and not even the best gear available. Maybe they will remove the cap in patch 3.1 as the new 24 man is opened.

How is that even a disadvantage? It doesn't matter a bit if someone has iLvl200 on them or iLvl190 except in Alex Savage, which is the only current place that matters. Who cares if they can get all their characters (provided they are first all level 60) in Eso/Alex gear if they can put in the hours? It would still take 8-11 weeks (depending on how they make gear choices) if they were really able to do the cap each week for each character. The iLvl cap is rendered moot at each iLvl increase anyway. Poetics do nothing anymore despite having had the same lockout and cap and Law is pretty much at the same point. I'm just not seeing it. The gating and the caps really discourage me more than anything else - and I'm new. It's not like I have level 60s waiting in the wings to take advantage of a change. *shrugs* It's a really frustrating system imho.
