The German page is the only one that implies 90 days. Even the Japanese page fails to mention it so I'd consider the DE page to be the odd man out.

For a FC I can understand. For a personal house... there's a 3 month gap between content patches. Currently we're on a 5 month gap because the devs took a well deserved vacation. 45 days may be too little for some people who burn through the content fast.
No offense, but then you are not someone SE will cater to. Not everyone burns through content quickly nor is running it all the want to do. Why should these players be punished when they're actively paying for those 3-5 month intervals because others have unsubbed to play something else? It's just bad business on SE's part, and makes far more sense to offer benefits to consistently paying customers as those are the people likely to stick with you longer.
While I think 45 days is a little short for personal housing, I also think that people who sub so infrequently have very little need or use for a house in the first place. If someone only remains subbed for 1-2 months every 3-6 months, I don't think they have any business taking up housing space. After a point is starts to become something they have "just because" which isn't very fair to more active players who could actually use it.
With this character's death, the thread of prophecy remains intact.
That from the perspective of a more fresh player, but what about people who already did everything that there ever was, who already own their house and who now come back when new stuff is added and who have no need to stay for all the gap between content? Do those players not deserve to keep their houses? Should they pay a sub for time they're not gonna play because they already have nothing left to do?
Yes. I can not predict the future. I may get bored, I might take a break. Heck, I play daily and visit my house daily, but I don't actually go in too often. I'm pretty sure I've gone over a month without actually entering my house, despite teleporting to it multiple times on a daily basis.
You people without house think 45 is enough, but when you get yours you'll realize how little time it is for such a huge investment. It basically means I can never take a break, ever. You don't see people losing Gil or Levels for taking breaks, why should I? A house is for many a bigger investment than taking jobs to 60.
And this really doesn't solve anything as far as housing is concerned. Most of the playerbase will still be alienated and unable to obtain one. It just means that those with a house are being punished for SE's lack of foresight. It's adding unneeded pressure to house owners for a feature that will, at best, relocate a minimal amount of houses.
I think 45 days is too short and 90 was much more reasonable, given the length of time between patches and expansions.
I really think it's fair the way it is. Sending out emails to let you know IRL to do something IG. and not just 1 email like 4.... And after 45 days you can still go for another 35 to get 80% of your gil and items... very fair for someone that isn't putting time into the game.
Only change I would like is shared housing. When they set that up. All people I've given access to should get an email.
I RP with my Real life hubby. We still haven't gotten married IG because we are waiting to get a house 1st and really hoping for the sharing options.
As far as taking a break... I played FFXI for 9 years, in that time I took a few 3-6 month breaks. played other MMOs. but I was still aware of what was happening in FFXI... and put log if they had a season event.. This would be similar. I would log once a month just to check the house.

Commendations.
If I play dps I only give it out to other dps.
If I play tank I only give it out to healers.
If I play healer I only give it out to tank.
Only if they should be getting a commendation.
There are always exceptions to the rules!
45 days is enough - if you fail to walk in you even get back 80% back, all your furnshings and the permit. If you can't get a plot afterwards - well, suck it up buttercup ^^
If you do not pay your sub for 45+ days you do not get to enjoy a service that takes up a huge amount of server capacity - easy as it gets.
The new system is by far better and way more forgiving then the old one - you even get two emails to remind you.
All those houseless FCs that actually could use a house can get one now - not those selfish bastards that bought a personal plot on day one and haven't even built a house on it (in my Ward theres 6 houses alone where the FC is on 1/1 members and even one plot did never get a house built on because it was bought by a lvl 17 alt... i mean, really?)
To all future house owners: Enjoy! ^^
If you take such long breaks, and won't even go back when you get those warning emails, then you INDEED don't deserve a personal house.
Why do you even own a house if you don't go inside? Why shouldn't someone else get who would utilize it better?
