why are minion drops so rare?

is there an explanation theory for this? i cant help but cry into my coffee every single time i run sohm al and the gaelikitten doesn't drop. im sure the day it does though i'll lose the little bugger to another party member and have to run the place a hundred more times. i know these threads have been made a hundred times over but if we stop makin em square will stop carin, so please square increase minion drop rate

or a thought i had while typing this, put in a chance for a rare "personal chest" to spawn at the end of a dungeon, this personal chest can contain a piece of gear for your class or the dungeon minion if it so has one, and raise the chances of the personal chest appearing with every consecutive run of the place you're grinding resetting the chances every drop. what do you guys think? it could help people get a rare bit of gear they've been want or those accursed sacrilegiously cute minions.

Because they aren't meant for everyone to have them right off the bat. If you want one of them so badly then wait a month to get one when they're like 10k or less on the MB. Besides, they aren't that small of a droprate to begin with. You're just not spam running the dungeons to increase the sample size.

im not sayin all effort should be erased and shower the masses with the buggers
im saying its borderline ludicrously rare you either bite the bullet and run a place a hundred times over for a little bugger with big eyes that impacts nothin in the game other than possibly epeen status or you well bite the bullet and fork over millions in the market which is not very affordable at all for some or even realistically a good investment
i just want square to slacken the reigns some

The pets are just a special reward for doing the dungeon. Keeping them rare is a tool devs use to incentivize running the dungeons even when you don't need loot or experience anymore. Granted, FFXIV has many hooks to keep people doing old content (leveling other classes, daily roulette rewards, gil, etc). Pets are just another such tool.

Besides, the pets are less fun to get if everyone has them, right?

Before anyone asks no, I don't have any Heavensward pets other than Unicolt and the various wind ups everyone got for things like early access.

Also, I've *never* seen the Gaelikitten.

I've seen almost all of them, and even won a few of them, but I've never seen the kitten or the book minion thing.

I saw 3 or 4 minion drops the other day in CT while farming a glamor, didn't win it any of those times though.. But I'd assumed they must have adjusted the drop rate on it.

i used the gaelikitten as an example as its currently the center of my frustrations but i think all minions drop rate should be adjusted
i seriously dont get the "i only want this because few people have it" mentality its kind of childish
