Relics vs. raid weapons as best weapon in the game

Again, because the relic weapons are a quest that more players can complete, the 'best weapon' available in the game will continue to alternate between the current raid weapons and the relic weapon. That is, for a time the raid weapon will be the best obtainable, and the relic will later surpass that, and so on.

So raid weapoon now is i210, and if relic will surprass it, it has to be i215 or 220, right?

I don't remember relics ever being more powerful than raid weapons. They always upgraded to the same ilvl or a little less than the current tier but there was never a situation I can recall where the relics had a higher ilvl unless you compared them to a previous raid tier.

It depends on what the new relic quest is like, and how many phases of relic weapons we go through. Your source is from E3, and a month after that Yoshida wasn't sure if the new relic would be at the launch of 3.1 or later, such as 3.15

I kind of expect we will see something in 3.1 that is relatively simple to obtain, and a grindy upgrade process in 3.15. So maybe they start at 200, and then build up to 210.

I was surprised the Alex weapons weren't 215 to begin with, and I highly doubt they will add 215 relics without buffing the alex weapons first. Relic weapons tend to lag behind other weapons in terms of ilevel, before being boosted to match.

It wasn't so much the ilvl as the customizable stats on the relic weapons, and these stats were sometimes superior to those acquired from raids. And some of the raid weapons had some gods-awful secondary stats.

Well, after the stage where you customized the relic (was that Novus or Nexus?) it can be argued that the relic weapons were more powerful not because of higher ilevel, but simply because the stats were tailored to your specific playstyle and class.

Turn 5 had i95 weapons, while Zenith (patch 2.0) was i90.
Turn 9 had i115 weapons, while Novus was i110 (patch 2.2). Only a patch later (2.3) Nexus was added and evened the iLevel of i115.
Turn 13 had i135 wapons, while Zodiac Braves was i125 (patch 2.4). Only a patch later (2.5) Zeta was added and evened the iLevel of i135.

The only reason Relic weapons were better than Raid weapons in some cases is because of the customizable stats. But considering that secondary stats are quite a bit less important than they used to be, the new Relic might never be stronger than the current Raid weapon.

Turn 5 had i90 weapons actually. It wasn't until later they were changed to i95.
