unsynced/overgeared raids ruining the experience for new players, like 2nd/final coil

unynced/overgeared raids are ruining the experience (for new players), especially on such raids as the 2nd + final coils of Bahamut and extreme primals..

even going in them synced with a level 60 character (+ echoes), makes them quit a lot easier than they were originally back then (even with echoes), but unsynced is imo really too much for first kills

sure, some will argue "but they can still chose synced if they want too, let them chose", but almost no new player will chose it anymore, if they have the chance, theyll just run thru it synced or not do them at all (they should imo even be part of the main story or at least Alex Savage only reachable, once those are completed too)

those are still the best raids and good practice,..part of the beauty of FFXIV, was building up your character while earning each it with good raids (and the euphoria of bringing down some of those hard bosses)

devs aren't going to care, they think everyone should be playing the new stuff.

Welcome to vertical-progression MMO's. Content has a finite shelf life - it always gets easier as time passes, and these have been around for awhile. In short, the Coils are outdated content. If someone wants to experience it the way it was done during progression, they're free to make their own "way back machine" parties to level sync it down. If, as you say, most newer players don't really have much interest in that method, that would indicate to me that they don't really care about the "back in my day" experience. The ones that do care have the tools to go and experience it the way that it was when we had to walk uphill both ways in the snow to do the sac pull in T1, so I really don't see how outdated content being outdated ruins the experience for anyone. o.o

My static has run a few people through all of the Coils to experience the story. Those of us that are veterans had a ton of fun going back and playing HULK SMASH with bosses that we beat our heads against for weeks in progression. Those of us that are new had a ton of fun getting a minimal explanation, learning mechanics on the fly, and getting to watch the awesome lore cutscenes. :3

I don't really agree with this. There's plenty of people that are new to FFXIV but not to raiding in general.

Coil 2 savage I don't think should have unsync, however. That content was for a niche group of people and while the mechanic heavy t9 svg is still challenging to clear I feel the unsync has taken away from the purpose of its release.

MMOs do tend to operate like that, not there from start or start a break from the game then you going to get left behind. Content does get outdated quickly but it more and more common as the game gets older.

I had a lot of fun going through the old Extreme primals unsynced with my FC members.
It was nice to have the option since our FC has less than 8 players and this let us get through the content without having to recruit people were weren't familiar with.
At the end of the day not everyone plays this game to be challenged.

I also don't think it's a good idea to require completing old raids to unlock the current ones. Imagine a new player 2 expansions from now trying to find groups to learn t9 and Savage Alexander with just so they could reach the current tier. The game would need to change significantly to make running old difficult content with new players desirable.

I have seen new players in my FC that appear to want to do a lot of the content unsynced. Personally I think they spoil their experience that way.

Because...that's a good argument. Since the gear that drops is useless for a Lv. 60 outside of vanity, what reasons are left for doing coils?

    1) Completion/for the story.
    2) Practice for Alexander (Savage).

If you're doing these for practice, then why would you go in unsynced? If not, then what's the problem?

Honestly it just wouldn't get cleared anymore if there wasn't an unsync option. Every now and then with helpful FCs, but picking up a group on pf just wouldn't happen, especially if it's for new players. Maybe you're awesome maybe not, but any pf listing like that carries the potential of a 2 hour carry with no rewards to offset it.

If the choice were run it normally or run it unsynced then I could get what you're saying. But that's an illusory choice. The actual choice is to run it unsynced or just not run it.

If they want to ruin the experience for themself - let them? As you said yourself: They still can run it the proper way if they want to. If they dont manage to make that decision for themselves... well... they should learn to do so.
I totally see your point - but you know what we did? We just jumped in at level 50 again, because yes those are such great fights with nice mechanics - and you still can do them that way. That doesnt mean you have to force everyone to do so... some people might just wanna see the story - and since its such a nice one with quite a bit of lore locking that behind such hard content wasnt the best idea in the first place - letting people just get that now is a good thing after all.
