    FC Invite Spamming

In MMOs, I usually pair up with a partially-sighted friend.

When it comes to FC membership, this has been a mixed experience for her over various games. Often, groups are intolerant of her perceived 'weakness' and unwilling to give her the time to focus and get her bearings in group content and raids and so on. Someone with a vision-impairment that comes and goes intermittently can often jeopardise that... so negative attitudes are kindasorta understandable... but it means that we are both pretty choosy when it comes to which FC we join. The fit has to be right. This is why we often form such things ourselves.

So... when it comes to FC invites... please try and bear in mind that players come from all manner of backgrounds and have all manner of requirements that may not be bog-standard or obvious... and that it's infinitely better to talk to and approach people rather than spam the invite continually.

FC spam invites are made by social FCs and I can ensure you they will most likely welcome people with such situation with open arms.

on the other hand if you just don't like invite spams, you can change your searching option to busy and you won't receive any.

Patience truly seems to be a lost virtue anymore. It truly is terrible that people can't be patient and work with othere instead of just spamming what they want. I hope you guys find a great group that works with you and helps you out. If you ever decide to leave Faerie, get in touch with me on Gilgamesh. My FC has a great group of people that are more about everyone having fun together than individual gains. We would help you both enjoy the game to the best you can. Have fun and good luck :3

Some FC invites thought are just purely for number gaining and will not doing anything with you at all. Sure some maybe where people talk but I've had people join mine from social FC's just because they don't do anything with them.

Finding the right FC is hard and you may find yourself just going from 1 FC to the next. You can try making your own or putting up a PF for one.

Had to reduce my first ever post from 3500 to 1000 characters, so a lot of what I wanted to say was lost. Things like... this game is awesome... I've only had one spamming pest that simply wouldn't stop spamming multiple times a day and who advised me to block them to stop the invites... aaaaaand... my friendslist is growing with chatty, generous and gigglesome faeriefolk who DO ask and talk... so

@Yaichiro Thanks for that. Will do.

Shouting/Mass recruitment only hurts the FC in the long run.

When "anyone" is good enough to join your guild, no one really cares. They just there. They didnt join for any other reason then they saw you shouting. Guilds tend to last and stay together because everyone joined for simular reason. They heard the goals of philosophies of the guild and they all joined because of it. Those things cant be expressed in a shout, especially not a blind invite. So what you get is if you get lucky and people dont immediately leave, you will be left with bunch of random people with their own idea of what they want in a guild. With no unity guild most likely will fracture.

Shouting isnt all bad. For new FC its good to get past initial catch-22 of "Activity requires Activity" but I strongly recommend against as a long term strategy.

EDIT: A tip for posting. The 1000 character limit only applies on initial post. You can edit it afterwards and add as much to it after the fact.

Thanks for the replies and advice.

I've found it vital to populate an FC (or whatever name a game gives it) with the like-minded... and that comes from over a decade under my belt across a wide-variety of games. There are excellent players that are not 'into' the social side or interested in 'making friends' - they just want to get stuff done and conquer content... and there's nothing wrong with that.

But humans are all different and come with their own penchants, fetishes, issues and requirements... and given the in-game restrictions I place upon myself because I want to make sure a very good friend with a sight-issue enjoys the game as much as possible... getting stuff done and conquering content is lower down my list of wants when it comes to an FC. It has to be... because she comes first. As I said, the fit really does HAVE to be right as if it isn't, experience has shown that it can lead to misery, feelings of inadequacy and a general air of utter un-fun-ness.

But... even as a newcomer, this game and server is batting me around the bonce continually with how awesome it is, so my mini-moan-post has to be put into perspective. I guess I was just trying to make it clear to those that DO spam the FC invite... particularly those that are insistent upon doing so despite being asked to stop... that it's not the only, and usually not the best, approach.

Hey Safka! Funny enough, I think I know exactly who you're talking about because a poor little alt of mine got invites flung at her relentlessly. After asking the perpetrator to stop, I was spammed with tells saying "blacklist me if you don't like it." Like Rena mentioned, it only hurts the FC in the long run.

I am also a visually-impaired person (blind in one eye and approximately half blind in the other)! If you like, please check out the Noble Riff Raff FC page. We are very similar to the wonderful Orange Pekoe in that we stand for togetherness, friendship, and equality, but as our <Lewd> tag suggests, we take things a little bit differently. I would highly recommend checking out the Orange Pekoe page as well. Also, not all social FCs spam invites. The only ones who do are the ones who care about numbers and nothing else. Some people might disagree with me on this, but the most important aspect of a FC is to have an established goal and ideal. People join because they like how it sounds, and stay because they got what they were expecting. I have talked to some of these people who spam invites. I asked them what their FCs were about, what they stood for. You know what they said? Nothing. Nothing, because they don't even know themselves. Anyway, if you or your friend have any questions or need any help, please don't hesitate to ask me!

Recruit spamming is an ugly method of gathering as many members as you can into your FC. I don't think it has anything to do with 'this is a social FC', but rather simply a lack of standards, desperation for members, and/or just not caring what your public image is. On the other side of that same coin, it's very difficult to recruit loyal members and have them stick around long enough to become friends/family. So I do understand why some FCs may resort to invite spamming from time to time. The big problem, in my personal opinion, is if that FC spams invitations all the time. That's just rude and it isn't classy at all.

In response to your particular situation, I'm sorry if you feel that people are disrespecting you and your friend based on her health conditions. I hope you can find a way to not take it personally. If anyone is straight-forwardly disrespecting either of you based on a health condition such as that then I would honestly just blacklist them and move on. I am a firm believer that 'we become what we surround ourselves with'. If that player is so morally bankrupt as to hate on someone else for a medical condition then just think what the rest of their friends/fc must be like. You're not losing anything by not joining them.

I'll also extend my services, or an FC invitation to you and your friend if you think you'd be a good match for us. We're small and prefer adults, teenage drama isn't really our thing. We can be quiet and do our own things at our own pace, other times we're all in FC chat having a great time talking about random things. We try to promote a laid-back friendly atmosphere where everyone can just play and enjoy the game. Mature players, all with very silly sides to them XD

Regardless of where you go, feel free to friend me or ask me anything in-game. I don't mind having random conversations with good people and if I have any information that may be useful to you or your friend I will be happy to share it.

Hope you cheer up :3 Take care!

Many different people play this game and just like the real world there are pricks. Im with Shadow Mavens and we help eachother on ALL group content when needed and i suspect many FCs do. Its just about finding a group of people you can get alog with and communicate well with. Peace!
