I think sometimes, it's pretty hard to find a nice FC...I were in two before....it was weird xD
But....maybe it's a good idea to take a break ^^
one week, some days...doesn't matter. But imho it would be very sad if you quit this game just because of those ppl.

This is just my personal (honest) opinion. Maybe you are over thinking the situation a little? These are people online, in a game, who you personally don't know and you shouldn't let these people get to you on a personal level.

It's very easy to mis-interpret people over the internet, and with your depression maybe you have a little anxiety and worry about what people think too much. Those people were rude for kicking you without explanation and that shouldn't matter to you. I found myself that some people on this game take things way too seriously, with FC leadership and drama etc. Please don't let it get to you. There are a lot of FCs that won't stand for this and will welcome you.

I hope you can find a new FC and enjoy the game again. If you're ever on Cerberus, you are welcome to join my FC

IMO, using this game to settle your depression is more like feeding it then relieving. The game requires you have friends and people to participate with to get things, and more than often you will meet jerks like this guy ^. Just take a break from the game for a while, play something fun, eat something sweet, watch your favorite tv show, when you feel rejuvenated and ready to take Eorzea by the Thal's Balls then give the game another go with a new mind set.

So don't take no crap from others. This is your game, you subbed for this, make it your own. If the games just not fun, don't feel ashamed, there's nothing wrong with you. The game is a required taste with a light bitterness that some can love it forever, others will grow to dislike it over time as the bitter taste intensifies, and sad ones will stick with it hoping it will taste better just to be part of something. Hope that makes sense, just be strong dude.

I am not sure how you act in FC while you are depressed hard, from my experience I know that people come to game to have fun and when someone is depressed and negative all the time, they don't want to be near such person because it affects their mood too.
There are people who will want to be around you even when depressed but there are people who have enough of their own problems and don't want negativity around them, because they go to game to escape such stuff, cannot blame them.

I don't think that anyone can say the problem is in your FC/FCs untill he has been there too, no one can say the problem is in you, untill he knows you.

As to your "playing to combat depression" part: If you are not already, please get proper help (talk therapy, meds, whatever you need). Please don't use a game to fight this battle. The people you meet here will not always be a boon to any kind of recovery. The game will be less stressful, regardless of company, once the other aspects of mental health are in place. Over the years of playing MMORPGs I've found the best way to make friends is to avoid people altogether. The friends I've met are people that I actually bothered to continue interacting with when I would usually not stick around to. Eventually, you'll run into people that will make you ignore your usual policy because something about them will just click with you. Plus, I tend to look for people that I would still talk with outside the game instead of "game friends" that seem close as one can be until you stop logging in and never hear from them again when they have plenty of ways to contact you outside the game. There's alot of dramatic and immature people on the internet just as it is in daily life, you just need to keep on working toward goals and things tend to fall into place. Sounds like you had a bad draw but if you get past it and move on you'll find good friends in the end.

True, It's interesting that I have met one of my best friends PvPing *against* them. (Not in FFXIV). After several matches, we just started talking with each other near a NPC that exchanges gear, and we spent hours talking. After that we were doing almost everything together. And to think that my first goal was to crush him, lol.

Remember too op, for me only 1/500 people I meet in games will ever amount to a true friend, that's just the way of the internet sadly. I have made a few genuine friends, with personalities I respect over the years but they are few and far between. Friends are not the same as internet comrades so finding them is much more difficult.

Get to know ppl a bit from a distance..their true nature will show quickly anyway, don't waste time on anyone that wont show common courtesy. Its a red flag if they cant show common courtesy or only do when they want something from you... {no thanks!}

Please do not quit the game over other people.

Be honest, never phony and people that are worth knowing will follow, it doesn't have to be many, I would take 1 decent person >entire game population any day of the week. Down to earth , good natured people are there op, just very very difficult to find sometimes.

I'm sure many out there are great and the people are great, but it seems like quite a few are just interested in increasing their numbers and could care less about the people in them. Have read a lot of drama on here about different ones, of course though no one hardly post's the good times.

I feel sorry for the fact that your FC treated you like chocobo dung. They were being a bunch of asses to you, and that isn't fair. I don't think it was your fault, in my opinion; it was your 'friends'. If I were you, I would've shrugged it off and go on. You don't need burdens like them to ruin your experience with this game. There's other groups that'd love to have someone like you and treat you with genuine respect!

Also regarding your depression, I think you should also seek therapy or any meds to combat it as well. I have low-key depression and i'm very much scared to seek help because i'm not sure how everyone else will react to it. I really do wish you well, man. <3
