I spent a while looking for the quote where Yoshida mentions he imagines a player reaching cap in two to three months, but couldn't find it. So if someone could link to it I'd much appreciate it.

To my point, though. I was leveling my 25 thaumaturge tonight. Managed to get to 27 before the party broke. I had fun being a mage. It solidified the fact that I'd like to level both THM and CNJ to 50.

But it got me to thinking, should it really take me 4 to 6 months to achieve that?

I played XI. I've been a gamer since the Atari 2600 days -- I rocked E.T. like it was winnable! Needless to say, I already know how to be a mage. I've played as at least one mage in every single Final Fantasy since the original. I can't help but wonder, if leveling is supposed to take me two to three months, what can I possibly learn from it?

This got me thinking, what did Yoshi-P really mean by reaching cap in two to three months? How many hours a week? Solo? Light Party? Full Party?

I don't mind grinding, but was he estimating someone playing an hour or two a couple nights a week or a minimum of five hours a day every day like the old XI days?

Which brings me to my ultimate question to the community. The PLing debacle aside, what do you really expect to be able to accomplish in two to three months? Especially if you were a new player? One class at cap? A battlecraft and a DoH/L? How many hours a week should it really take?
