None of the things that are made for glamour or minor purposes are necessary. That would include:

The Gold Saucer: Do we need it? No. Does it effect gameplay? No. Does it add things to do/see/have? Yes
Sightseeing Logs: Do we need it? No. Does it effect gameplay? No. Does it add things to do/see/have? Yes
Minions: Do we need them? No. Do they effect gameplay? No. Do they add things to do/see/have? Yes
Mounts: Do we need a ton of them? No. Do they effect gameplay? No. Do they add things to do/see/have? Yes

All of these we don't need yet have. The whole point is that these things were added because others wanted them. But they are all completely useless besides looks or lore.

How would those minor changes throw off balance? How would holding your staff like a BLM as a WHM throw off balance? Bard range? How would that make it a problem? It would be an improvement. Making it easier for a Bard to stay out of the heat of battle while giving songs. The long reach thing, arms growing? Come on. The range thing doesn't even matter as you're way out of arm length in-game anyway. It's what.. 3 yalms? If that's equivalent to yards, isn't that like 9 feet? 9 foot arms. Yeah it doesn't matter. As for fairies, I see them getting beat on all the time and it would also help with them traveling with you.
