    More Unique Character Development Via Leveling

    Something that really confused me when playing this game and other classes was the fact that classes/jobs dont get any skills or passive traits that directly effect how your character is. What I mean by this is having traits like Ninja has. I noticed that only Ninjas seem to get interesting traits and character development when they get stronger. Examples:

    Fleet Of Foot: Increases run speed
    All-Fours: Takes less damage from falls

    When you become a Ninja, you get a whole new run, sprint, and jump animation(It is a shame though that you cant toggle it off)

    Why don't other jobs have things like this. Why DOESN'T Dragoon have a fall damage trait!?!?!? Every class seems to be stuck with Enhanced <insertweaponskill/OCD>

    All classes should get traits that effect them directly in some way. I also think it'd be nice if fighting animations or /cposes were unlocked with level. Actually Imma make a whole dang list of things that could be done a certain way for classes.

    Bard
    Eagle's Eye: Increases targeting range
    <insertname>: Increases song range
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female (throw out idea)

    Dragoon
    Moon Jump: Increases character jump height
    Soft Landing: Decreases(or gets rid of) impact damage from falls
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female (and perhaps the Estinien fight style?)

    White Mage
    Battle Mage: Unlocks the option to hold your staff like a Black Mage(Vice versa for Black Mage)
    Quick Raiser: Decreases Raise cast time
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female

    Black Mage
    Cleric: Unlocks the option to hold your staff like a White Mage(Above)
    Cut(or Scratch..whatever): Makes Scathe an OCD with a cooldown of say, 20secs? 30secs?
    Ether Guzzler: Increases the amount of MP given by Ethers or MP-giving things
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female

    Warrior
    Super-powered: Increases Overpower range(or makes it wider)
    <insertname>: Unlocks the option for other races/genders to hold the axe like a Roe male(Allows Roe guys to hold theirs like other races)
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female

    Paladin
    Infamy: Increases base enmity
    <insertname>: Unlocks the ability to make shield invisible?
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female

    Monk
    Long Reach: Increases melee range
    Enhanced Haymaker: Makes Haymaker an OCD so it can actually like.. be useful.
    Super Saiyan Aura: Obviously we need it. I don't care how it's done. GL animation change maybe?
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female(Annoyed at the fact males get the bland version)

    Scholar
    Quick Reflexes: Increases the movement speed of Eos/Selene
    Alchemy(Or something): Increases the potency of Potions including wards and poison stuff etc
    /cpose Unlock: Unlocks the /cpose for Male/Female

    Summoner
    A Real Dang Brain: Increases Ifrit/Titan/Garuda Egi's AI
    Swift Summon: Decreases Summoning Cast Time
    /cpose unlock



    These are things that could be done. They all change your character in some way. I was disappointed to see no new traits in Heavensward.
    EDIT: Some of these are throwout ideas to make all classes have at least 3 each. I'm completely for something better than bad ideas I had.

    there could at least be a move that stops dragoon fall damage like ring of thorns or something (although it is actually a lancer skill)

    Because all of those things are:

    A) not needed
    B) a waste of resources
    C) plain stupid (mainly the Egi AI)

    It sounds like you want change for the sake of change. In the case of the ninja, lore wise they are trained to move differently to accommodate their fighting style and were added later than the original jobs so they had more time to work on them.

    Ignoring the cosmetic stuff, having traits affecting your skills and character in such a way makes it far harder to balance the Jobs, and SE have done a great job doing that currently. I mean the fact you want to gimp other jobs and have an alternate and superior set of AI programming for one class shows how little you know about the game or how SE wants to build it.

    It's been obvious for a long time they want a strict and controlled system they can finely tune and balance, adding unnecessary traits that make that system harder to work with isn't going to happen.

    Faster raise? 99% of the time you'll be using swiftcast on your only raise every minute.
    Longer range for targeting and songs? Completely unnecessary, there's no need to be further away, in fact it'll only make targeting you harder for other party members and if you're out of song range you are out of range of the rest of the party.
    Increased melee range? Why? The whole point is to be up close, did your characters arms suddenly grow in length? Being further away only makes it harder to change target rapidly without DPS loss and hit positionals because it'll take longer to react.
    Fairy move speed? Why? Absolutely pointless, you'll rarely move them unless they are eating cleaves and they aren't slow currently anyway.

    I could pic holes all day but I want to go to bed Frankly the whole thing is pointless...

    All of these we don't need yet have. The whole point is that these things were added because others wanted them. But they are all completely useless besides looks or lore.

    How would those minor changes throw off balance? How would holding your staff like a BLM as a WHM throw off balance? Bard range? How would that make it a problem? It would be an improvement. Making it easier for a Bard to stay out of the heat of battle while giving songs. The long reach thing, arms growing? Come on. The range thing doesn't even matter as you're way out of arm length in-game anyway. It's what.. 3 yalms? If that's equivalent to yards, isn't that like 9 feet? 9 foot arms. Yeah it doesn't matter. As for fairies, I see them getting beat on all the time and it would also help with them traveling with you.

    But I like how you ignore my actual points on the skill traits and why they are stupid and then go on to try and break apart my random examples I gave. I guess ignorance is bliss when it comes to finding out your ideas are stupid...

    As for the fairy taking damage all the time, then you're playing with bad players, they don't have to even be close to heal someone they have the same range as us, only idiots put them up close to the fight. And as for their movement they have the same movement speed as us, just they start moving a second after as they are basically on /follow, that delay isn't worth its own trait that could be used for something actually useful.

    I've never heard of ninja running speed being a benefit to raid but most of your choices do involve something that would be game changing. Even dragoon "no fall damage" would change the role in pvp to make fighting in certain spots far less hazardous. Nothing like using knockback to fling a dude at full HP off a cliff to his death. Not to mention fall damage doesn't kill in FFXIV unless you are in combat, unlike most mmos I've played.

    More movement animation differences would be nice, and maybe some out of combat differences. Dragoon could be immune to fall damage outside of combat, white mage could have a tiny healing aura outside combat, bard could have a tiny mp regen aura outside combat, etc.

    What the other jobs need are unique sprinting animations like DRK, NIN, AST, and MCH have. The default sprinting animation on a Paladin looks awful.

    Why not reduce the cast time of raise? Alot your traits make no sense when it can be just made into the base spell. It introduces extra complexity and that's a bad thing for MMOs.

    The target range is the same for a reason. If bard was given an extra 5yards lets say that would make them more effective than say a BLM.

    If you give WHM a BLM pose then it's not a BLM pose now is it.

    How would more range make them more effective? More damage would make them more effective.

    As for the stance changes making them unoriginal..... that can basically be said for every thing that was race-specific but now, isn't
