    Question about pvp materia.

    I started to pvp in Seal Rock a bit after HW was released (tbh I was intimidated at first, until a friend showed me... I wish I had started sooner), I am not able to play it much and I recently hit rank 35.

    By now I amassed enough wolf marks to buy some rank 50 gear sets for when I will finally reach the rank, and realized that I can meld materia to it.

    I know that the vendor sells some specific pvp materia, and I was wondering if it was worth to meld. Considering that most of the times I end up healing, I was thinking of getting stun/sleep resistances materia.. Is it ok? Or that kind of materia is only useful for the Wolves' Den? Should I meld normal materia?

    I just want a bit of advice from more experienced players :3

    Bad thing is, as of right now materia doesn't even work in frontline. It only works in wolves den.

    Thanks for the reply! Well, I don't think I will try Wolves' den anytime soon, so I guess I will use those wolf marks for something else.

    3.1 is supposed to have more Wolves Den (I don't think the Dev team has actually mentioned it recently, so I have a feeling it might have been pushed back to a later content patch). With new PvP content, most of the PvPers will be trying it out. So if you're close to rank 50 and considering trying out the new content (whenever it does come out), I'd recommend getting the set and putting materia on it.

    ... I will help your.

    This materia, what your can buy for wolfmarks work in:
    - wolfs den
    - all pve areas but only in pve gear

    Do not work:
    - in frontline/seal (there materia do not work in pve gear too)
    - if it is in pvp gear so it do not work in pve

    And here my test from today.
    I tested it with poison.

    Resi = time of the poison in sec
    0 = 30 sec
    5= 28
    15 = 25
    20 = 24
    25 = 22
    31 = 20
    46 = 16

    I don't think I will be able to reach rank 50 for 3.1.. Maybe rank 40 if I am lucky.
    Mmh, maybe I will wait a bit to buy materia. I try to complete a healer and a DPS set, then materia.
    Now I am excited for 3.1 >_<

    I just hit rank 43 myself yesterday. I don't think I'll be 50 before 3.1 either. XD But I do have 4 parts of the healer set. So I can pretend I'm ready to try it out for the new Wolves Den.

    Grats on being almost rank 40, though. \o/

    The ranks between 1-40 are actually not that bad to get to, however the exp after rank 40 goes through an astronomical jump.

    The way the PvP rank Exp is right now, the exp required between ranks 40-50 is equivalent or higher than that between ranks 1-40. That's right. The same amount of exp it took you to get to rank 35 is less than the last 10 ranks, and there's no way to increase your exp gained except for winning. SE has realized that there is a problem with this and has stated that they are looking into fixing it, but right now the last 10 ranks are hell, and the last 5 are absolutely brutal hell.

    If you want to boost your rank quickly, my recommendation to you is to finish your challenge logs for PvP every week. For seize, that's 7 matches and 3 wins for an additional 3k bonus exp. You can also get bonus exp for running Wolves den (same challenges: 7 matches +3 wins); however, Wolves den is much harder to que for. Unless you're on a server where PvP is popular, que times are horrific. So you'll probably have to set up party finder and try to organize some win trading if you wanna take advantage of that bonus exp... It's worth it though. You're looking at around 6+k exp every week in a game mode that only gives you a max of 400 exp for a win.

    Yeah, I imagined that leveling 40-50 would be different than doing 1-40, kinda like leveling a class from 50-60, maybe worse.
    I am in no hurry tho, I am really having fun so I will take whatever long it takes to reach rank 50.

    I've been doing the frontline challenge log religiously every week. XD
    The Wolves's den intimidates me so for now I leave it alone, unless I am able to drag 3 friends with me.

    Thanks for your reply and tips, it was appreciated.

    The game mode is fun enough that most of the ranks fly by.

    Wolve's den is intimidating... especially those que times, but if you set up a PF for win trading it's not like you're fighting on the level. Win trades usually go in 3 match spurts. Your team is given 3 wins (they sit down and let you kill them) to get your weekly log done. Their team is given 3 wins (you sit down and let them kill you) to get the weekly log done. The last match is a legitimate match to finish off the 7th match required for your weekly challenge, and it's all in good fun. Best team wins, but no one really cares at that point. Then both parties split up and say "see you again next week." It's much friendly than a real wolves den match, though much less competitive.
