no Thief in new job system that's coming out?

As a thief lover I am wondering if SE is going to add thief along with the new jobs thats going to come out. Thief has always been in final fantasy, and the closest to thief that I can think of in this game is the pugilist which is a mon. monk is coming out with the new job system. So my question is i'm wondering if SE is going to add thief as a job too. Final fantasy is not a final fantasy without a thief job.

I also wanna be a THF, i've been a thief in every FF (when possible, of course), and i'd really, really hate it if i couldn't be one in this one, the whole reason i'm a PUG is because they promised me i would be able to Steal... ok, i can't steal now, but throw me a bone and make me a THF in the future.

well obviously thief isn't coming in the first round of jobs, but i assume it may still be equipped to pugilist in the future.

I too has been a thief in any final fantasy when applicable.FFix,ffvi, FFT, FFxi, FFxii With (vahn). and yes the only reason im a PGL right now is because PGL is the closest job to the thief. I really want to be a thief and wield a dagger in this game. I wish SE could include it when the new jobs comes out. I mean come on thief has been one of the basic job in any final fantasy you could name I don't see why stop now in ffxiv.

They should just remove daggers from Gladiator and give us an assassin/rogue class, leading to the THF job. GLA has enough weapons as is and THF has been in every installment (that had jobs) since the original Final Fantasy.

Why not just have Thief get a bit deeper than ever? Anyone should be able to steal really, so Steal should be a universal skill that you can get better at through practicing. This includes pickpocketing NPCs other than just monsters, breaking into those houses and settlements you can't get into, picking locks and more implementations of treasure chests that you can get better at opening without keys.

However, to also make it deeper, there should be penalties for failing, like having one of those guards fight you. Then you have to decide on a fight or flight (both of which are hard if you are a thief who is supposed to be sly and crafter). If you lose the fight, you could be taken into dungeons and prisons instead of dead, too.

I played Thief mode in more than just Final Fantasy and have seen the class not get the love it deserves. I picked Pugilist thinking there would be a steal move in it too. But if anything, there should just be some type of thief glove(s) that does these things for you as well as increase in skill (and wear) with use. Don't forget lock picking sets. I could go on forever.

I certainly don't see them giving the ability to steal or pickpocket to anyone. That's basically what THF is known for in FF. I'm fairly certain (my THF didn't go higher than 37 lol) that they had the ability to pick coffers at the risk of potentially spawning a Mimic should the attempt fail. I do see what you're saying though.

Thief was my favorite class in FFXI. I wish SE would put thief in. Monk and thief are 2 different classes.

In final fantasy XI monk was known for:
High DPS but lower spike damage (respectively compared to other jobs.)
High Hit points (highest of any class)
    martial arts style
    chi and charka

    Thief was known for
    Spike damage (Critical hit)
Relatively lower hp but very high evasion (Highest) to substitute
    Enmity regulation
Tricky play style (such as sneak attack from behind ect..)
Some enfeeble attack (Such as FFXI Faint to lower evasion((Not FFXIV faint))
    Flee (<3 that flee)

Except the critical hit was given to Pugilist (Blindside)
Evasion traits (as of 1.20's notes) are being given to Pugilist
Collusion DID belong to Lancer but it seems to be disappearing (at least temporarily)
Apparently several enfeebles can be done via the combo system.
Archer has a movement speed increase and apparently in 1.20 that's AoE.

In terms of the XI Thief with the points you stated, it could've been built to an extent with the Armoury System. When/If Thief makes it's debut on XIV, I highly doubt it's gonna resemble the one you grew to love on XI.
