Please, stop with your backseat healing!

It's great that you can cross-class a lot of skills before you get a job crystal, it really is. Cure has saved my butt a few times in solo play when leveling rogue and pugilist. And arcanists, physick is definitely useful to help your pet if he's taking damage before you get sustain.

But when you have a level 50+ healer in your leveling dungeon, let them heal, and please, stick to dps. First off, any time you spend throwing a cure or physick at the tank is less time (and mana) you could be spending on dps. Second...the healer knows what they're doing. They are in cleric stance for a reason. They're helping to speed up your run. Every DOT they put on helps that little bit more.

Tanks don't need to be constantly topped off. It's perfectly fine for their health to go to 50% before the healer tosses a healing spell their way. The healing spells are potent enough that using it before around 50% will be wasting a lot of the potency.

Not to mention, it's dead boring at low levels to stand around doing nothing but healing. I'm dpsing to save my sanity. If you don't want a healer who can do both, I'm happy to leave.

Brought to you by: DF roulette keeps sending my healing jobs into Tam Tara, please make it stop. Today it was a lancer using cure on the tank, not just an arcanist. That's just insulting.

Well if they want to heal, I'll just turn CS on and DPS instead.

Probably one of the reasons why I find X-classing CS instead of Protect in the 1st slot is better for 15-19 synced content.

I've seen that as well (and done it myself on BLM when the healer died for whatever reason) but if you're tanking you may not have noticed it. Running healer, I definitely have noticed it.

Pretty much no one bad enough to cast gratuitous heals as DPS cares enough to be following the forum, but I do get the frustration.

The best thing, however, is when a BLM or SMN eats huge, avoidable damage, stops to cast Physick, and then dies from the next mechanic while attempting heal instead of moving. Even better if you already cautioned them at least once not to waste time self-healing.

Eh, I'm a tank and I've had some scares a few times with healers who like to wait. But usually it's not DPS, i'm the one throwing additional heals (which are very sad 250 hp heals, but sometimes it buys just enough time). I don't like when healers let my hp drop below 30% I get antsy... Only takes 1 interrupt for w/e reason to cause that to turn sour real quick. I much prefer the healer that tops me off constantly than the types who are overly focused on dps

    Just... WHY?

Aside from the topic, please Summoners, help me revive players when shi** has hit the fan and my co-healer is dead for the second time in 30 seconds. Today I went trough this on A4 and got "I was out of MP" as a response from the SMN.

To each their own lol. I main WAR so I only get nervous when my health hits around 30%. When I play PLD the only healing skill I generally use is stoneskin.

As a tank I'd rather have a healer who uses their downtime to dps, personally. With anything below Stone Vigil, I shouldn't need to be topped off.

RIGHT??? I mean, I get the arcanist who does it, and as a baby arcanist I did it myself a few times when the tank would get super low, but...lancer??? (I misspoke, they were a lancer still.)

Agree 100% on the summoners. One of my prides as a summoner is the swiftcast rez to help out a healer down. I notice a lot of them lately seem to stay focused on dps instead of sparing time/mana/swiftcast for a rez.

I was in A4 today on Paladin. I was the off-tank.

Every single Discoid (as is the case like, literally, 90% of the time when I'm not healing it myself) would have killed the MT if I hadn't hit him with a Clemency. The first time I cast it because he was 50% going into Discoid cast. And then he almost died from it anyway. So I made sure to do it every time. The last one, I had to hit him with *two* Clemencies to save his ass because the healers were clearly busy doing something other than healing the tank. He had 300 HP left before my first one hit, and it was the only heal he got before the following blast.

    So.

I'll stop backseat healing when healers stop falling asleep at the wheel.
