    "Who...what are you?"

this thread is for how the Heavenward ending, particularly Thordian's Famous Last Words, affected your character. As well as a general discussion of speculation on what The Warrior of Light is

I'll start, and say that while I never gave that much thought to Aurora's characterization until recently (not much of a roleplayer), I'll make it apparent that she was shaken by the battle, and that the archbishops question led to her question why she of all people was the Chosen one, searching her memories but never finding anything beyond the initial trip to Ul'dah, not even the Calamity, and thus seeking out "Awswers" in the ruins of Dalamud.

I will skip the "affected your character" part since I am not a fan of RP and I will tell you what I understood from King Thordan words:

    1. You're turning to a Primal.

    2. Perhaps this is what the Ascians want from the first place which kinda explains why only few approached you and the conflict among themselves when it comes to Warrior of Light.

Thordan was a Primal. Because he was given birth to by the prayers and aether of Ishgardians... Scions have faith in the WoL, but it's not the same thing at all, you're given power by Hydaelyn and Midgardsormr... Yes, you're turning into a deity, but like Odin, I think. A god among human and a human among gods.

And, probably, as the Ascians. The only difference being That you're said to be Hydaelyn's vassal while they're Zodiark's...

I always liked to think that, for a moment, he confused us for the Fury herself (Halone), but obviously that only works if your character is female. Still, the irony would be so, so damn sweet.

I wonder if Acians were former Warriors of Light in the past.

I don't think the WoL is turning into a primal. Primals have very notable characteristics which allow the Scions to tell very quickly and easily if something is a Primal. This is simply because Primals are big Aether Vacuums. They would notice very quickly if we were doing that.

More likely its linked to the Echo. The Echo by its very nature makes us practically unnatural. The we transcend the Barriers and limits of the soul. Theoretically we can probably do most of the stuff the Ascians can. The thing is I think we are gaining more control over it. Lets not forget with literally tore a Crystal of Light out of Garuda. We have been doing some pretty weird stuff for a while now.

As for J'talhdi, I think she has been suspecting since the whole thing started that things are changing and she was on a path that moved her away from normal mortals. I think it would disquiet her but she stays true to the path she is on because she believes in what she does and if she must change or even die to protect the world she loves, so be it. Doesn't make her comfortable with it though.

I took it to mean he was just wondering...who and what the Warrior of Light is. The WoL is the champion chosen by Hydaelyn herself and imbued with her Light.

We just took out Thordan and the Knights of the Round without being Primals ourselves. How did we do it? Thordan, I think, died wondering what was UP with the WoL that made them so powerful. But he did not see them as a beacon of hope, he saw them as something terrible and fearsome.

I think the way he asked the question in a state of terror implies that the story is about to go into some of the darker aspects of the WoL's existence and what they do to the balance Elidibus keeps yapping about.

As for Gale, I think he didn't have much of an initial reaction. I imagine that the Vault and everything that happened after it left him woozy (losing two companions, not knowing he is moments away from losing a third). He probably just stood there with a thousand yard stare and only later asked himself the same question and came up with the answer "I'm just not sure anymore."

I found the line terribly interesting, and I do enjoy reading people's theories, but it is what it is: It's meant to be a hook, to generate discussion and interest in future patches.

Just like many of these sort of vaguely important lines, we probably won't hear the truth of the matter for quite some time (remember, at the end of 2.0 we saw Zodiark? Or at least, a dark crystal that is more than likely Zodiark? See how much we've done with that?). Another example is the Shroud's unbalanced aether that sent a scholar into complete panic in 2.5, yet we've ignored for an entire expansion now.

I also agree with Belhi, we've done done pretty neat things with the Echo and I think that's where the story is going to go more, since we're basically super warriors now that we have our Blessing back.

First posting in Lore, but I like to believe the Ascians are akin to Time mages; and only the Warrior of Darkness is actually vassal of Zodiark; they are more of an aside in shaping things to their own agenda. On point, that was probably the best line in all of the HW cutscenes, the sheer gravity of it gave me goosbumps XD.

I say let Elidibus and his Warriors of Darkness come. I'll stick a lance in them just like I did the other three Ascians and the now 20+ Gods I've got on my resume.

Elidibus is right to fear us, because now we can take away the immortality they once believed they had and effectively kill the unkillable. It's only a matter of time before our power is great enough to destroy them with the white auracite alone with no need of an Aether Bank to loan from.

(Yea, I'm definitely pushing that "Chaotic Good" boundary since the Dark Knight Quests.)
