Level 50 end game pre HW worth it?

Just got over 50 a few days ago and unlocked the quest line for artisan/supra ect tools in the old max level hang out Mor Duhr. Is it worth it to go down those quests or is everything overshadowed by HW and I should just focus on going through HW content?

Get Supra and Lucis for one craft and one gather, but you can wait til you're 60 to do it. The only point is an achievement for each (for getting one), for Lucis. Supra is required for Lucis.

Otherwise the stats on them are overshadowed quickly, like by lv 53 gear.

Yeah, that's really how expansions in MMOs work, honestly. They release new gear that is straight-up better than the old gear. Some people get a bit upset that it invalidates the old gear, but I don't see it that way. The gear wasn't invalid for the months people had it leading up to the expansion, and was in fact quite necessary... and further (though this is less the case with Heavensward since it requires you to finish the pre-Heavensward main story before you can move on) the new higher-stat gear is there to encourage new players to play and old players to return without having to grind through months of pre-expansion content before they're allowed to grind through months of post-expansion content. It helps the players that have been away for a while catch up quickly so they can join the rest of us and enjoy the game.

Im also agree that it should be needed the improvement, but it was poorly done punishing so badly to all people who work hard before and HW is just giving away things similar or better by sample "Gift ilvl 125 HQ" items (mean gift because are mostly just quest talk npc A, go and talk npc B quests) that replace your so hard work earned reliq (yeah new item uglier but better stats) is not a way that be a fair. Also example 2, lucius item wich took about over 2 week of grind just on last step have the exactly the same stats than nq npc item lvl 60 (wich also less than 100k gil) hurts you as much like a kick on most sensible parts.

That's how almost every MMO with expansions works tho. It's just the name of the game. Naturally they'll be 'giving' out 125 gear to start most people on the right track to end game material. It makes no sense to have people grind to get the 125 gear just so they can replace it all in the next level or two.

All the 50 stuff except the Luminary tools are easier to get now, compared to what they were 2.9 and previous but it's still quicker to just hop over them to 51 and 53 gear. They all require untradable crafts and gathers that have substantial gear requirements. When you compare them to new recipes, they go as high as level 57 in equivalent.

The biggest detriments you will have is, you didn't do any of the side grinds. Demimateria from Desynth grind, Ehcatl Sealant from Ixal grind. These still cost massive amounts of gil because the grind to get them was and is painful end game level grind. Yet they are still core to the content they serve.
