Transfer Question and Am I ready Question?

    Hail and well met, all,

Another "just joined the fun and have some questions" post.

So, I've got some questions... shocker, eh?

I'm currently on Coeurl, and never see anyone speaking in a global channel. I see folks around, I guess... but they sure ain't bein' chatty. People always tell folks here to go to Balmug or Leviathan... both of which are full, however can you use a paid transfer to get in? Is full just full to creating new characters?

I'm focused on a path to being a healer, and while I dabble with Rogue and Pugilist, I mostly work on Conj/Arc/Thau. My Conj and Arc are both Lv 18, and I have that first "Raid" quest; Sastasha.

I've read about the dungeon and the encounters, watched some youtube vids on it, I have various healing macros setup, and I'm always main healed in other MMOs so I understand the concepts of preparing to pre-cast on a potentially big damage incoming attack... and interrupting it should it not land so as not to overheal, I understand at least tossing my DoTs out to help with DPS if events allow, and running TOWARDS my tank if I grab aggro so he/she can peel the mob off of me, let the group know ahead of time that I'm a newb who has never made this run.... etc etc etc. I'm no true, end game, big raid, healer/player... but I think I'm good enough for the average "dungeon runs," and know the do's and don't's of healing in a group/dungeon.

So... am I ready? Anything else I should know? As a trial newbie, I have no great gear... just what I've gotten from quests... so I can't twink with over the top gear unfortunately.

Any other advice anyone might have is appreciated. I apologize in advance should any of you here end up in my first FFXIV group

    Take care,

Don't worry - you are more than ready for your first dungeon. (Which BTW isn't a "raid" - that usually means a dungeon designed for more than 4 players.)

Sastasha is a quite easy dungeon. Literally a training dungeon - it is after all the very first dungeon people will run in this game.

If you have read up on the dungeon, understand your class and know more-or-less what to do - then you are better prepared than most people are on their first run.

I agree you seem to be more than ready for Sasti just have fun

Bout the transfers... I never did one but Transfers seem to have priority over new created characters so maybe try it after a maintanance because its supposed to be best time for such (next week there will be some) but maybe to save money you could also try start a new char as you arent "that" leveled on you char yet.

    Good Luck either way

You are more than ready. Sounds like you may be over-prepared lol. Sastasha is super easy especially for heals.

If you're looking to transfer, Lamia and Behemoth are still quite active and Behemoth especially still has a growing population of new players. I've been playing on Behemoth lately and it's pretty fun! It's always good to see people out and about in the world, still doing stuff.

Coeurl actually has plenty of friendly players, it's just that unfortunately spam messages from gil-sellers have turned most players off of using the global channels much. Most chat has moved to private Free Company, Linkshell, or Party channels. Your best bet for a more social game experience there is to find a good FC or a few linkshells to join. And in the main cities or wherever there are plenty of people, you can often get conversation going in /shout or /yell if you kickstart the conversation with a question or observation on the game. It's just that your chances of coming across such conversations already going on are slim.

As for Sastasha, it sounds like you're ready. You'll actually get three dungeons practically in a row at this point in the storyline, Sastasha, Tam-Tara Deepcroft, and Copperbell Mines, before the story returns to another sequence of solo quests. But these first few dungeons are pretty straightforward, designed for new players who are still getting comfortable with their class, their role, and often MMOs in general. The only thing that might be an issue is that you may get a party that wants to race through them as fast as they can run without giving you the time to really see what's going on the way most new players would prefer.

Look me up in the game (character name Y'kayah Tia) and maybe we can do some of them together. I'm on most evenings (Eastern time zone). Or I craft, too. I could make you some good crafted gear that's better than quest rewards (though not as good as some of the stuff that can drop from those dungeons' chests if you're lucky).

Thank you all very much... now if I can maybe find time this weekend or next to run it... we'll see how I do, LOL.

And thank you Niwashi for the kind offer. I'd love to take you up on the offer to run the dungeon if you're willing to not speed run, (sounds like you are), as I like to "enjoy the ride" at least the first time through a dungeon.

As for the offer of crafted gear, items, or whatnot... again a kind offer, but I prefer to stand on my own two feet as it were... friendship, chit chat, good times together is all I ask from folks whom I meet in these games. While not much of a crafter myself in MMOs, I do enjoy harvesting/gathering materials... so trading materials for items is about as "free" as I take

Thank you all again and looking forward to meeting people in game.

Oh... and the wind blows in game, stuff flys around, and your robe/clothes actually flutter in the wind... HOW FRIGGIN' COOL IS THAT?????!!!!!?????

    Take care,
