    Where to start?

So, I picked up the free trial and fell in love with the game. i felt my old flame from when I first played WoW re-ignite again and made me giddy with joy. to the point where i didn't even wait for the 14 free day trial expire. but now i am stuck with a dilemma. I have looked over the disciplines and jobs online but am torn between which path i want to fallow or which race to play. When i started the trial account I really wanted to play the Au-ra lancer/dragoon but the race was not an option on the trial so I went with a lalafell archer. after buying the game & expansion i created my first character idea and enjoy her. but at the same time i have grown attached to my lalafell as well and don't know which way to go. I think i might continue the Lalafell and ether play bard or machinist. I guess my question is to the community if there was anyone that could elaborate on the races & jobs on top of the blips at character creation. I want to try find which character i can connect with more

    First, welcome to the game.

Just so you're aware, you do need to reach level 50 and complete all the base game's main story quests before unlocking the 3 new jobs (they require you to be able to access Ishgard, which is some 100 quests from the start of the game).

You do have an option to change your race using fantasia bottles. You get one free bottle when you first pay your subscription (usually 1 month unless you buy a time card), so you can play around with your lalafell and then change to Au'ra later. It will retroactively change all the cinematic scenes so you can watch it again later. It's not quite the same I know, but it's an option if you're unsure.

Otherwise, you can make both characters. You do have to pay a slightly extra fee or subscribe for 6 months at a time, but it is an option.

Race choices are almost all about aesthetics only. Endgame stats don't matter at all. Also, which classes did you play back in WoW? Is there any particular class or playstyle you like from that game? For example, the Summoner is similar to the WoW Warlock in FFXIV, and Bard ends up becoming much more caster-like after level 50 because of charge times (which some players find disagreeable).

Welcome to the master race fellow lalafell!

The choice is obvious, stay among us

The beauty of this game is you aren't bound by one class per character so you can level your bard until you unlock the expansion areas or dabble in different arts to try them all.

The races don't have much of a gap between stats, it's barely noticeable unless you're the type to min max everything.

Anova, i didn't know that about the expansion content. that's good to know and i kind of like that. about it. something to work for.

Dejiko san, i think i might stick with the lalafell, at least for the main. from what i have seen the players have the same cult mentality that the gnome players did in WoW and seems like a fun little group to belong to thanks for helping me wade though the options.

I'd type up everything you should know to get into the game without getting lost but there is a severe character limit on these forums.

I made videos of my written guides though so you can check those out.

The Races themselves have slight variations of stats with some having more strength or vitality. It isn't enough to make one better than the other, so be whatever race is most appealing to you.

This game highly emphasizes the importance of liking your character above the class, since you can just level all classes on one character anyway. If you love the Lalafell then stick with it In the end you could always just race change down the line.
