There is actually another screenshot from the press release which makes me wonder if the WoD actually is Derplander cause it shows all Derplander's friends in the background.
Kudos to the idea of her being Krile, but the ears are still one of my concerns!
Maybe "Krile" is a Lalafell, and SE just deleted the Lalafellin ears from that hood, because 4 ears would look weird.
I'm still hoping she's a new race/mix from 2 races, I like the idea since we've already seen Hyuur + Elezen mix :D

Judging from the picture I'm guessing the ears are just hidden by the hood / hair ... I don't see anything that would hint at the lalafel being a crossbreed or having disjointed ears O.oKudos to the idea of her being Krile, but the ears are still one of my concerns!

I never understood how ppl could suppose that we get a fight against a mirror-group.
SE would never implement a complex AI which is needed for a boss fight like this. A "boss", consisting one time of 2x PLDs, 2x AST and 4x different DPS, and another time of WAR/DRK, 2x SCH and 4x BRD and so on. And don't forget that you can list with every class composition if you're a full group. So SE have to consider compositions like 8x SMN as well.
To make it clear: There are 8 slots and 13 jobs in this game... that means there are about 125.970 different group compositions out there (1.820 for 4-man-content).
I don't think SE can put enough effort in this to make such a "boss fight" harder than a PvP-fight against eight 5-years-olds with same group composition.
Not to forget, that we e.g. can focus on their healer, but they can't (unless you drop the whole emnity mechanic for such a fight).
Poor PVP with bots is nothing I want to see in this game.

No, it was not.
There was a fight, were a single member of the group was copied in appearance and got the same mainhand weapon, but he got no spells/abilities/pets. 3/4 of the enemy group was always the same.
Second the fourth Spitewarden (that's what he was called, right?) didn't play a huge role like we suppose the WoD will do. If it's just a copy of you, it's hard to give him a real own past/background, etc.
And most important: If the WoD is a copy of our character... why wasn't there a copy in the Ingame-cutscene on the moon we all saw? This was no promotion/intro cutscene, it was the reality our characters live in.
You know, in intros/promotion cutscenes you can even swap the appearance of characters (like dragons) and is has no effect on the game/lore itself. If something in intro/promotion doesn't make sense (like Hraesvelgr attacking Ishgard), it has no effect on the story/lore.
But ingame it has to.
If we'd had seen an echo vision instead (ingame at the end of 2.5), with a Hraesvelgr-like-looking dragon commanding the dravanian hordes and being evil, they couldn't have make a Niddhog-like-looking dragon being the evil leader of the dravanian hordes in 3.0 without logic/continuity errors or a real, real good ingame explanation.
And with the WoD it is exactly the same.
Changing the appearance of the WoD we all did see makes as much sense as changing the appearance of Alphinaud to a female Rhoegadyn in 3.1, Elidibus to a woman or changing the moon-location to mars.
You can't answer a question like "Why did we saw the derplander speaking with Elidibus after defeating Thordan?" with "Because it was a red herring of the developers."... you have to answer it lorewise, because all we see ingame is in fact the lore of the game. Why should the WoD be in disguise?
Just imagine you go to the INN and rewatch cutscenes. First the one on the moon (WoD = derplander), second the one where you first meet the WoD (WoD = You). Sounds stupid, right?

Sorry to disappoint, but I seriously doubt that the new outfit means we're getting a new job mid expansion. Yoshida stated that he'd prefer to make new jobs for each expansion pack rather than doing it mid patch cycle since making new jobs takes a lot of time (it was in one of the live letters I think but I can't remember which one).
I believe Rouge/Ninja came out mid cycle because those jobs were cut due to 2.0 being pushed out to meet the deadline.
Don't think this is a mirror group in terms of gameplay, or an attempt at copying the player.
This is the Midlander, or a version of him, these are his allies, and they reflect our own intent with Darkness to counter Light.
My guess is that something went very wrong soon after or during the Calamity. He fled Ul'dah alone, approached Ishgard alone, and did battle with a Dravanian army led not by Nidhogg, but by Hraesvelgr (whom he'd also encountered having led a charge on a version of the Steps of Faith that hadn't been successfully defended, and was instead littered with bodies), that penetrated Ishgard's defenses and fully engaged in battle with its guard and populace. All done without aid from the Scions.
I believe we're going to clash against the embodied result of an Eorzea that is lost to conflict, without any hope of returning from the brink. Evidence of an "Ark" that may traverse the Void could support this.
