I said "the heroes that got lost." Some of the heroes (i.e. the legacy WoL) didn't, but assuming you aren't legacy, they are all whereabouts unknown as of 2.X. I can't actually confirm what Urianger says if you are a full legacy import, but I imagine it would be trivial either way for a second group to claim that as a backstory. Perhaps Eldibus manged to get to them first?

Dunno why you guys still think we are gonna fight "Derplander" and his party. Tecnicly what happened on the 2nd movie trailer, wasnt suposse to happen to begin with, was Nidhogg who should be there on the Steps, not his brood bother. It was a mistake SE couldnt fix on time. That we saw a dark midlander using a WAR af, doesnt tell us much, also remember that in lore terms "Derplander" change to a DRG using its AF2 gear. Lets all remember that "Derplander" is the default WOL, he represents all warriors of light.

Getting back to the previous comment, yea makes sense that that lalafell is Krile, even if is a bit hard to see, its clearly a female lalafell. That could not be papalymo in any way.
There were also 2 orther screenshots, on one of them we see an elder elezen with some soldiers of the vault. Something tells me he is Dzemael, that high house is one of the most fanatical ones.

Editing: Remus is that screenshot new, related to 3.1? or old?
Yea ok the screenshoot is from 3.1 MSQ, yea my apologies. This changes everything.

Can you cite an official source on this? I only ask because that's what I've been assuming all along about Meteor, but with the full cinematic trailer for HW (a story they've reportedly had fleshed out since not-too-long after the release of 2.0) has depicted events dramatically different than those we've engaged in.

He is shown here with his companions whom we haven't seen since the 2.0 cinematic, he has no scions at his disposal, and we don't have absolute proof that events didn't transpire in his world differently enough that he's not responsible for some of the things that have gone wrong in his timeline. The world has seemingly turned against us before. Maybe he just didn't bounce back like we did.

Did SE actually say they couldn't fix the cinematic and accidentally put Hraesvelgr there instead of Nidhogg?

Presumably it's because the FMV cutscenes are not actually made by the FFXIV development team, but by a separate SE division (Square Enix Visual Works), so it's just possible that there has been a slight communication issue, which would be in keeping with the FMVs for the game having continuity errors or differences to how things happened in the game.

End of an Era for instance showing the wrong character as the BLM (the BLM in Derplander's party is actually meant to be the female elezen not the male one but was depicted otherwise) and the original opening... ooh boy... where do I start? Derplander's great sword (where no class existed with such a weapon), the design of the Drowning Wench complete with aetheryte in the middle, the spells and attacks used by Derplander's party in his Echo scene that actually never made it into the actual game - 1.0's FMV opening was one big lie gameplay wise.

So yeah, Heavensward's FMV opening had some continuity errors in it and is not meant to be taken as representative of the actual story (the dragons after Vishap never even directly attack Ishgard so that should be the big clue right there!.

Also, as for the Warrior of Darkness's identity, Ferne mentioned way back on the old version 1.0 forum which is now archived, that Derplander and his friends not only represent the player's character in trailers and propaganda pics even through to HW (there's even a piece of artwork clearly showing Derplander in front of the Mothercrystal fighting Lahabrea!) they do have their own unique storyline different to the player's. Even so, given all this, I don't think that is 'proof' that Derplander and his friends really are

the Warriors of Darkness, as Derplander and his friends are us, period.

It was during the lead up to Heavensward they interviewed the animator of the cutscene during a stream and he was delivered the wrong concept art when he was starting work on the cutscene. By the time it was discovered he had the wrong concept art, he was too far along in the animation to change it in time for release.

Yes, the did, but it was in a live event in Japan, not a post or similar translated article. They had the head of SE Visual Works and Soken discussing the time crunch they had to go through to finish the cinematic. And when Yoshi saw the mock up version, he asked why Hraesvalger was there instead of Nidhogg, which the head of SE Visual Works then explained that they where given the concept art of Hraesvalger not Nidhogg. And there was no time to change it, since the cimimatics take a year to make.

If that is Krile, and it seems fairly likely it is, then she has an unique model? Not only are the Lalafell ears missing, but she doesn't have those pronounced eyelashes that I use to tell a Lala's gender.

I'm pretty sure this is a male lalafell as the hairstyle is the one that won the contest for the males.

Thank you for noticing this. A female Lala has far longer eye lashes plus they're "pointier".
On Reddit we've noticed this already when it was posted there.

I'm looking forward to seeing him in the main story quest, whatever his purpose will be!
