3.1 Main Scenario picture

I'm at work so I can't really lurk for all the info, but, have you seen the new picture from 3.1 main scenario? There's something that's bugging me...



Is that a Lalafell? If so... where are his/her ears? Are they pointing up like the little "Miqo'te" at Idyllshire? Is that a "Qiqirin"-ish headgear? Maybe a Lalafell/Miqo'te cross?

Any suggestions?

Given the just barely noticeable cat ears on the hood, I'm liable to regard that character's outfit as a reference to the 'Shaman' Job (also known variously as a 'Seer' or 'Devout') attire from FFIII, who also wore a white cat-eared hood, in keeping with Yoshi's on-record statement of FFIII being his favourite FF title.

As for that lala's identity, looking on his shoulder, that seems to be one of the Sharalyan aether goggles the Archons wear, and as

Y'shtola after all gained a new outfit upon her 'return' in HW's current storyline

I'm wondering if that is Papalymo's new outfit? After all, that lalafell is clearly blonde, just like Papalymo, he's just lacking Papalymo's monocle.

Either way, we'll find out soon enough.

A new job might make sense since we'll get one in mid-expansion (just like Rogue/Ninja in 2.0), but still, Lalafells always had space for their ears, so it looks quite weird imo, because moving Lalafell's ears to top might hurt them D: ...

Is it offical we are etting a new job mid-expansion because last I read from yoshis comments is we arent getting a new one till 4.0.

Fairly sure that what you last read is correct. It sounds more like assumption based on Rogue/Ninja and/or wishful thinking.

I don't think it's Papalymo, and still, it shouldn't be a Lalafell because the ear thing... as long as I remember, every single covered headgear for Lalafells had space for their ears, even plate! It would be the first headgear that omits Lalafell ears D:

That lala has brown hair. It is not blonde, nor does it look anything at all like Papalymo.

I assume this is Krile, for two reasons;

Exhibit A, s/he (Lalafell...) is a Scion-level character, judging by the aether-scouter-thingy (I believe that is it's technical name).

Now, my initial thought was "Then it must be Papalymo!", but then I reminded myself of what he actually looked like... Granted, Y'shtola underwent some cosmetic changes as well, but she's still recognizably Y'shtola... Blonde to brown hair? Not to mention the new length... He hasn't been gone that long, has he? Oh, and perhaps most importantly of all (why didn't I open with this?), Papalymo has his tattoo on his neck, this character doesn't...

So, how do I know it's Krile? Well, Exhibit B...

I would just pass that off as a cute nod to the design if Krile hadn't already been introduced to the game, but since we've been waiting for her since... Through the Maelstrom? Yeah, it's about time... I certainly expected more Final Fantasy V references when Living Liquid showed up...

Now... I wonder if this means we'll be seeing a certain Ivalice Esper making his appearance... The Twelveswood = the Forest of Moore, the Elementals are keeping the Judge-Sal (and other Eikons, off topic, but does anyone else remember that mysterious elevator that was hidden in the Shroud in 1.0? Still canon? Allag in origin?) sealed away, that "next extreme should be the final boss" from the Rising Event clearly indicates the next set of Primals as being Ivalice Espers, who were partially based on old final bosses! All the pieces fit!

I'm only left wondering how Melusine will end up possessing Minfilia, when she finally returns, since she is clearly playing the role of Lenna now... We beat Melusine already though... I wonder if YoshiP can get away with a real 3D model of the proper Melusine...

Krile is actually first mentioned when Minfillia talks to her on the linkpearl while escaping from Castrum Centri. So she has been in the games lore since 2.0.

Well, it is a unique hood... I'd say there is room in there for some pointy ears... Alternatively though, perhaps we have another half-breed like Hilde, LalafellxHyur this time?
