What about this game keeps you logging in even if you're not totally happy with it?

I posted this on another forum and figured I'd bring it here.

I've been part of a few discussions on here and elsewhere recently about the different dynamics of this game and it seems that a general consensus is that people have a LOT of issues with the game, and it doesn't fit most of their wants for an MMORPG, but they enjoy something about it enough to keep coming back. So what does it do for you? Is it that you just like the Final Fantasy feel? The soundtrack and graphics? The storyline and charming characters? The raids? Is it just that it's better than anything else on the market right now so you keep playing it until something better comes out?

I have a ton of gripes with it, and it is far from my ideal MMORPG (count me in the EQ, FFXI and vanilla WoW camp. My ideal MMO doesn't have to be just like those, but you get my point), but I admit that I'm enough of a FF fanboy to keep playing it for the general FF themes. That and it's just super pretty and charming, so I enjoy my casual time on it. How about you? What's the thing(s) that keeps you logging on even if it might not be ideal?

A combination of everything you listed. I enjoy the music, story, characters, the FF feel and it is better than anything else out there that I've played. If it had the open world exploration of Elder Scrolls Online and the lateral progression and encounter fluidity of World of WarCraft it would be perfect to me.

I don't log in for hours and hours each day, however, and consume content fairly slowly so I am not as burned out on Heavensward as most other people seem to be.

Lots of stuff, to do past 50. PPL say there isn't a lot, but compared to other games this is a lot. A lot of the content people don't really play or only do unsynced, but that's SE fault for cutting down the relevance.

They should just do, all old post 50 dungeons give a token. X tokens and u can change them in for various stuff and a large pool of various items.
Then u can get w/e and keep people running old stuff. But w/e

Still lots to do. You tried ESO yet, the end game is pvp. Lame.

Mostly for the reasons you listed, too. I love the FF theme and think the world and graphics is amazing. I also enjoy my FC and playing with them, even if it's something I'd normally find boring doing myself. I play the game with my boyfriend too though and that makes little things on the game much more fun and a lot less likely to stop playing.

I didn't get the Final Fantasy feel until Heavensward, which is also when I found a few characters I liked plus a more concise style of storytelling. I don't know how long that's going to tide me over, though, because there are only a few things I really like and there's only so much of it. The atmosphere and music was always great, though.

The biggest reasons I keep coming back are because MMORPGs are still relatively new to me and I like the people I play with, even if they destroy everything I love and make me name my race chocobos things like "Speed Leg".

Simply.. I would feel bad putting my static in that situation. I joined because a old friend asked me and while they aren't the best bunch (still struggling on Alex 2S dps checks) they are a good bunch and I wouldn't want to bail on them and leave them without one of their tanks (and admittedly he is the best tank partner I've had in XIV.. great communication)

Besides jumping on for raids though I don't even bother getting eso anymore. There is no point in gearing alts in 200 gear to do........... Well nothing because the next hardest content is Alex Normal which can already be wrecked.

Friends. The game has gotten incredibly dull, and there is nothing this game is currently doing to provide me any sort of enjoyment.

However, with my friends, we together can do things and MAKE this boring game fun for us.
