Looking for specific type of crafting guide.

Hello all, now that I finally leveled all three gatherers to 60 I decided I'd make use of them and get crafting, but the guides on how to properly level them are very sparse and difficult to find. The type of proper guide I am referring to specifically is one like this:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comme...eves_guide_15/

Note how he specifically lists the exact quantity and name of the items required. I'm looking for more guides of this nature specifically that will give me a rough estimate of the amount of items I need to farm beforehand for 1-50 leveling. Any links to more like these is greatly appreciated!

I understand the neatness of the concept of knowing exactly how much mats you need for how many leves per level. Then you would think you can gather them all with all 3 gatherers, and have free mats for every item needed to be crafted before you even start. However, the reality is a little bit more complicated than that.

First, you need to understand that all crafting classes use crafted mats from one another. e.g. in order to level Blacksmith, you will need some lumbers and some glue. So it's impossible to just gather "everything for lvl 1 to 50 BSM", and grind it all the way. If you want those lumbers or glue for free, you will need CRP and ALC at around the same levels.

Second, about cross class skills, there's an approx consensus about what is needed early. You should first level most, if not all, of your crafting classes to level 15 first to get most of the early cross class skills, which will pave your way to level 50.

Third, about which class to reach lvl 50 first, in my personal opinion, you should also level WVR, BSM and CRP (simultaneously) first, followed by GSM and CUL / LTW (simultaneously if possible), and then followed by ALC & ARM.
    - WVR, BSM and CRP gives very important level 50 skills that is extremely beneficial. Also WVR and BSM lets you make your own gear and tools, so it's nice to have them up early.
    - GSM also gives a great lvl 50 skill and makes accessories.
    - CUL can be done early to level 37 for Steady Hand II if one desires for it early, which is a very powerful skill to have.
    - LTW is nice that it allows you to make many gear and belts.
    - ALC makes glue and oil for every class.
    - ARM makes tools for CUL and ALC.
Technically, you want to level them ALL together if you want to be completely self-sufficient. But that will make the process painfully slow.

Forth, it's always nicer to have at least some classes at higher levels, because using up most of your leves for lower levels is a complete waste. You should try to push your levels with other methods when you're at lower levels while always consuming a few leves a day to keep the allowances growing each day. When you reach higher and higher levels, use more and more leves.

This is why planning out a set number of leves to level one single class from lvl 1 to 50 is a very bad idea. (You can, however, plan to "limit" yourself in using only a limited number of leves per class per day, so you can equally share it among the classes you're trying to push on.)

Fifth, is the concern of inventory space. If you try to gather all the mats at once for something, you will likely run out of inventory space. It's better to "gather, craft, gather, craft"... and repeat the process. I hope you have been leveling your retainers too, because they will play a great role in this... While you're busy crafting, they can do the gathering for you. When they come back with the mats, you use them all up to craft... This way, you will be able to handle things with limited inventory space. It also saves you the trouble of gathering anything at all - all you do is crafting, no gathering (until you reach level 50 in crafting and need to do unspoiled gathering for mats).

Sixth, I like the idea of carrying raw mats around, and just craft while waiting for FATEs or dungeons. This allows me to constantly consume the raw mats, turn them into HQ ingots, lumbers and threads/cloths, which are useful for crafting products, and are great for sales. This way, you can turn your free time into a money-making and exp-gaining process, making the crafting more relaxing, and you can also learn more on how to craft these 40 durab items in the training process. This method of "leveling" is obviously not "calculated". It's difficult to estimate how much of what mat is needed to get just enough exp for a particular level. But the whole process becomes very spontaneous, time-efficient, and you probably will learn more from it.

Seventh, you will probably be doing GC turn-ins and Ixali Beast Quest since both of these gives you a ton of EXP for lower levels. But when you do GC turn-ins, it depends on whether you have the ability to make it, how expensive are the mats, and whether it has a gold star next to it. All these factors affect your decision of doing it or not, and how much EXP you get from it. Similarly, Ixali Beast Quest is something that you can apply to 1 or more crafting classes at the same time. With all these "dailies", your exp per day will vary a lot, and it is difficult to predict how many leves you actually need per level.

Lastly, is the use of GC-issued Engineering Manuals to boost exp and FC buffs to boost exp. These things are also variables, depending on your own GC seals and FC Credits availability. With all these factors, it makes predicting how many leves you need even harder if you do a lot of regular crafting to level up (which I recommend!).

You might have seen this already, but this is my old crafting guide between 2.1 to 2.5, which many had used for reaching all-50 status:

    Hope it helps!

Thanks for the advice though it's really not what I was looking for. :P

As for your guide, I read through it, didn't find it helpful sorry. As I said, I was looking for a more direct guide, i.e. "level with this item for these leves 1-5, then do these 5-10, then these 10-15" etc. Your guide is a lot of (helpful) advice but nothing that I as a new crafter can put to any practical use, I appreciate the sentiment though.

Outside of the chapter 13 tips which does give some direct leveling tips, that's helpful and something I put to practical use. I felt as though all the rest could have been cut out as that's all I really needed. Mostly because it's an advanced crafter's guide and you're linking it to me, someone that knows very little about the overall process. Hence why I need something giving me specific directions, general guides are honestly of no use to me compared to the one in my OP which is specifically what I want/need.

Go through your crafting log and craft 1 of each item until 15. If you're leveling a job that doesn't have enough recipes to hit 15 this way, quick synth a cheap recipe afterwards until 15. After you hit 15 just do the level-appropriate courier leves all the way to 50. In general is take 8-10 courier leves per 5 levels. Double if you can't HQ the item.

Ok, I will try to give you some basic directions then.
    - First, go to the Gold Saucer, and buy yourself a stack of Stone Soup for 37 gil each.
    - Buy a GC engineering manual.
    - Eat a food to have that 3% bonus exp and 17 extra CP to use. Pop the manual.
    - Then go to the crafting guilds, and take up your first crafting quest. It will ask for some very basic stuff.
    - Then you buy mats from the guild vendor, and you can immediately craft the items on the spot to complete the quest.
    - Once it's completed, the guild master will give you level 1 crafting gear. Do this for different classes, and you will have a whole set of crafting gear to work with.
    - Next, go through each item on your crafting log. Need mats? Guild vendor, FC house vendor or Residential Estate Vendor. Do not use the marketboard, and don't try to gather the mats yourself. Because at this stage, it's not worth your time to do so. If something is really missing, send retainers to get it for you.
    - Once you have gone through many items on the crafting log, you may even buy a ton of mats, and just do quicksyn.
    - Quicksyn your way for all 8 classes to level 15 to earn all the lvl 15 cross class skills.
This will be what you need to start with. Really, don't bash your head on any specific class before this.

Then, go unlock Ixali Beast Quest, and do 6 quests a day. Also, try to hand in HQ items for GC supply/provision missions each day for all 8 classes.

At the same time, start to learn what "Inner Quiet" does. Make sure you use this skill as your first button for every synthesis. If you need more explanation to what it does, pls visit here:
    http://ffxivrealm.com/threads/doh-cr...8/#post-158506

Next, set up your cross class skills. I recommend equipping with Waste Not first, then Hasty Touch and Trick of the Trade.

After that, start playing with these skills while going through your crafting log. You should be able to HQ many things at this point. Gear up yourself with HQ gear using your WVR (chest & pants), LTW (head gear, belts etc), GSM (accessories), CRP (shoes), BSM (tools).

By level 21, you will acquire Great Strides and most of the other basic crafting skills. Start formulating your rotations by combining skills, maximizing all your CP.

Now you're ready to go through 2 stacks of ores from your gathering. e.g. Silver Ores to make Silver Ingots for GSM. Grind through 1 or 2 stacks of ores, and produce as many HQ ingots as you can. Save some ingots for your next items on the crafting log, while selling half on the marketboard for gil. By the time you finished the two stacks of ore, you should have found a good way of using your cross class skills & basic crafting skills. This is how you become good at crafting.

With your newfound powers, you can now go through leves with great ease. No leves items will trouble you anymore, and you can HQ everything

In that reddit guild you attached in your message, it requires 78 leves to get GSM to 50. I think it's vastly overkill. You should be able to use only 30 to 40 to get a class to level 50. This way, you can get all your classes to level 50 much quicker. Otherwise, you will need to wait 2 weeks before your leves allowance replenishes, and it'll take you months to get all 50 status.

I know this is NOT what you were ASKING for, but what I am trying to tell you is that what you were asking for is perhaps not the best for you.

    Good luck!
