I don't really see my character as a representation of me in most games I play. I usually prefer to come up with a concept of a character I'd enjoy playing the hero in a story and create the character based off that. For FF14 I wanted an easy going inquisitive character who generally liked people and an adventurer who lives for the experiences and freedom of being unbound to anyone nation. She protects Eorzea and the people in it because she loves that world and likes people even with all their flaws rather than any sense of duty or righteousness. Its a personality that gels really well with the game's set story.
Each time I come up with a character to be my 'protagonist' in a game I generally come up with something new. I've been considering an alt recently to redo the Main Scenario with and I'm thinking of going with a more tragic figure who carries a lot of loss from the calamity and start out kind of aimless and going with the flow. In this case it will be a character who finds purpose protecting people to save them from same loss.
Needless to say neither really are that representative of me as a person.
