Met a tank last night in Alex 1 normal to get my bolt and he shouted that one healer didn't do any dps (a whm), and kept harassing that healer until we kill the oppressors, "can you at least throw some stone 3 cant you, lazy ass" etc etc
He even harassed a ninja because my DPS (a smn) was higher than the ninja when we were doing single target. The ninja left but we still managed to finish it. The tank said "good riddance"
My second time I've seen this happen in Alex 1.

Plot twist: that tank was not running a parser, but neither was no-one else, He shouted out those remarks about people not pulling their weight, and because no-one else was running a parser, no-one could disagree.

My point: Very rarely on these posts (god knows there are enough of them about parsers) do people consider that harassment MIGHT decline if we all had a parser. I play on PS4... in any content I'm in, someone can say I'm pulling great/abysmal dps and I have absolutely no idea if they are right or whatever, I must just accept what they say on blind faith, because I have no parser. If we all had equal access to parse, sure their might be some that use it to harass (but then we currently do anyway, as per your anecdote), but there might be less people calling others out when we can see THEIR numbers too

It's funny how there is always this small group of players who seem to witness someone using parser and abusing others because of low numbers everywhere no matter the content. By looking at this thread many who are against it are totally clueless how they even work.

Oh and i'm also a PS4 player and want a parser. I don't want a training dummy since hitting it doesnt tell me shit. I want to know how I fare in actual content when im trying to find an optimal way to use buffs etc. Especially when SE is so keen on designing hard DPS checks like in A3/4S.

You may find it funny but I don't. Not in the slightest. I've had it happen to me in Fractal and, depressingly, after berating us over a couple wipes at the last boss the parser user left (it was the tank), we got a random replacement and finished the boss off like there were no problems at all. Yes, people will be jerks, this is a given. That fire's been burning since the world's been turning. An official parser, though, would be lighter fluid to that fire.

Hell if I knew. The parser user kept going on about their DPS being on top and how could everyone else be sucking so much... After the third wipe I was about to tell them that if they swung their numbers around one more time I'm reporting them but they left before I'd even typed two words. It was really a stroke of luck we even got another tank, late in a dungeon it's often impossible to get replacements. I'm just glad I've yet to run into anyone like that since, noone deserves to be talked down to like that. Especially not by someone who apparently couldn't do their own role effectively.

I'm not on a PC, either. This game doesn't segregate by console, the effects of an official parser would be far and wide.

Without parse you can't improve your dps and skills. Do you clear any thing 1st on all world if no don't talk about some thing you don't know about it if yes you 100% useing parse that's mean with out parse you will be late in everything.

OR... OR... An official parser would actually give YOU a way to see who is actually underperforming, and not just take the abuse by the tank... The fact that only ONE person has access to this information makes it way worse.

Anyways.
1) Idiots are going to be idiots, normal people are going to be normal people, seeing the numbers won't change either and you will still be able to report for harassment.
2) Why is it OK that Tanks and Healers are required to perform to 120% of their job capabilities, while DPS can easily get away with doing less than 50% in the majority of content?
