I've come into mostly healers who just have a lack of understanding or maybe just don't care? Not just scholars, all of them. There are plenty reasons that some users do not DPS, though I'm noticing the extreme of DPS or not DPS'ing being common. I wonder if it's because they're doing FATES so much that they're loosing out on the extra tid-bits you can only get while jumping into dungeons?

I was tanking Darkhold last night and we kept dying. It was a mixture of two things, the healer dying standing in aoe's on trash and the Arcanist (not smn.) kept running too far ahead and would get hate from the next set of mobs that wander around. The healer in the end could not heal the second boss, didn't use regen and popped all cool downs before going in, otherwise just stood there.

I had a hard time staying alive so I looked at her gear, it was up to date except on the accessory side which was left blank except two VIT pieces.

On the other hand I've had players come in who only dps jobs previously and were new to healing, some don't DPS it's a bit of pressure to anticipate the party's HP so you're sure you have time to DPS then heal.

Then there's other times when the party stands in everything and you get no time to heal. Then..there's the I'm tired, I just need this run my mind is sooo far away from this dungeon that I'm already checked out lol.

I assumed it would be affected by debuffs but, as Blessedbythesun noted, it seems some of them only affect spells. I'm now wondering how it interacts with other debuffs...

Regardless, Cleric Stance does affects both spells and abilities. Benediction is the only healing action that isn't affected by CS now, AFAIK, and that can't be cheesed much thanks to its 5 minute CD.

Yeah, honestly, a lot of the time if I don't DPS on my healer it's because I just got done a long raid night or something and I'm pretty much a zombie by that point. I've also noticed that there seems to be some polarizing around the subject, probably because people hold such strong opinions.

Personally, outside of the current raid tier, my view is "DPS if you want to/feel comfortable/etc". But, meanwhile, the two sides will rage at each other...

Holy Moly the salt in the OP.

Cutting edge content requires SCH to dps. I DPS there on SCH. In dungeons i stay in clerics 90%+ and DPS. I do this because i have the skill and can. It is NOT a requirement. Also i get bored when not doing anything, so DPS on SCH is fun like that.

SCH is a healer. If they go above and beyond that and dps then yippee. If not, be glad they are good enough to keep you alive.

I main sch and love to dps. Of course there are times it's tough depending on the content. I was shocked to heal a new tank on expert the other day, it's been awhile. He fell to 5% hp with adlo\Ss on before I can cast my 3rd dot.
Encourage the sch to try dps ing more. Sometimes healers hold back cuz the group blames the healer for wipes. If they feel the group isn't a bunch of complainers they might get used to it..... maybe

In most situations I'm going to err on the side of caution for most of the content. I have to see how the party is working together. If I feel that I can get away with it, I'll start throwing DPS in as well(Fractal Minotaur is my biggest one). I get annoyed when I have to babysit a tank with less HP than a ranged DPS(or me) and am expected to DPS.

if they arent comfortable with it, they really messed up the first 50 levels of the game because it practically BEGS you to use cleric with how pitiful the amount of outgoing damage is

There's a flip side to this coin, and that's the sch that thinks he's a straight dps class, in cleric 24/7 while leaning on the whm hard to carry them. A great sch mitigates damage and does dps. If they're not mitigating hits then that's more worthless to me, and I'd rather have them switch to an actual dps class so I can get the credit for solo healing.

True. 2~3 weeks ago I had to basically solo heal Ravana EX, when Ravana was at around 10% HP and my MP very low (I was struggling to cast a Medica/Medica II) with Assize and Shroud on CD, the SCH keep DPSing and not giving a damn, the party was with 50%~ HP, and I had to type in chat begging for "Succor" so the party wont wipe.

Just one simple example. Neverrear/Fractal. You can either stand still and contribute 0% DPS. Or you can do damage and contribute 20-25% dps (as a WHM, as a SCH I think you could do same if not more), making this boring run for ESOs faster and more challenging. As a WHM I have tons of time to DPS in those dungeons and I find it interesting to compete with DPS on damage Then there are tight DPS checks on ex primals and savage, that pretty much leave you no choice. And DPSing on primals isn't as easy as in dungeons, so you might want to start practicing unless you are not going to do content that is harder than end game dungeons.
