    Let's nerf gear

    As the title says, I suggest that stat gain when it comes to items of higher item level should be decreased. We are going to sit at level 60 for a while and with every new item level tier the old content gets easier, while at the same time more difficult for fresh level 60ties - especially tanks with enmity issues and lack of experience with the content.

    I do realise that stat overhaul of all the gear would require quite a bit of time and resources, so for start we could focus on gear from this point onwards.

    This would shift the focus from gear more towards skill and as the side effect it might increase the value of materia, which could improve demand for crafted gear.

    No, just no. There is nothing good that could ever come out of this idea.

    Gear gaps are irrelevant in iLvl Synched contend, so if tanks can't hold hate, healers can't keep.HP up, and DPS can't meet dammage checks, then it has nothing to do with gear.

    Stat boosts only objective is to force players to swap ild gear for new gear sl it has to be worth phasing out. With out the Str and Def boosts being so drastic i'd of never swaped my 180 gear for 200 gear.

    Gear gaps are even relevant in iLvl Synced content. You get a new player bringing his gear from previous dungeon and you have synced players getting the maximum the instance allows - quite a bit of gap.

    Yet again your opinion. Let's say that the difference in stats would be cut by 50%. Would you still prefer your 180 gear over 200?

    This thread is not really a topic I want to get too involved in at the moment but I thought I'd just highlight what I think is the main issue with this aspect of gear/ilvl sync which is more the player base in general doesn't care about their gear at all. The mind boggling gear sets I've seen running the low roulette and when I've been running back to back vales in the evenings gives me the impression that unless there is some kind of tome system people don't care about their gear at all and will just wear whatever they can get away with. The biggest issue at the moment I think is that the level 51+ leveling roulette has no ilvl restriction I got dropped into it Dusk Vigil on my AST while wearing my vale spirit binding set which should never happen.

    I also saw a bard this afternoon in Dusk Vigil with the GC bow which is ilvl 55

    Also as much as I'd like crafting gear to be relevant the devs have given the impression many times that they don't want it to be so I doubt we will ever see much use out of the materia system any time soon.

    This is also one big problem. During my leveling as WHM I had few moments when I felt like crappy healer, but in all the instances I had to heal undergeared tank. I wonder why the lower level content lacks item level requirments. It should be there imo.

    Just to batch it to the topic. If the stat differences between gear were smaller, then also extremes as you described would be smaller.

    Actually, that is kinda the idea with Gear Progression in MMOs. New Patch Released, Everything from last patch becomes useless, Players sub for three more months to get the new "Best Gear" one month later repeat. And YES, the Str and Def stats were the only ones that were better on the 200 set. I'm literally still wearing more than half my Asuran Accessories because the Ardent Accessories are inferior. I never picked up any alexander NM gear with the exception of the ring and ear rings (Since I got the items to grab them in the process and didn't want to waste them) but only 2 Accessories out of 11 gear slots being an improvement is unacceptable to me thus why the small gap between 180 and 190 gear caused me to skip the 190 gear all together. And the lack of pay out for the effort is not worth going from 200 to 210 gear with Alexander Savage.

    So yea, this fixes no problem as much as it just placebos problems that objectively shouldn't exist any way from players who are working together and actually trying.

    You can have gear progression without overboosting the new gear. Even with only few points of improvement players would still hunt BiS items. It isn't just about farming the gear tho - It is also about beating the content. The gear is also farmed for glamour and braging rights.

    Now if you skip gear because it is useless that is a problem, if you skip gear because you do not need it, in case you are good enough, your group is good enough, then I do not see anything bad with it.
