ps4 cross bar + + and + +
1-5, Q, E, R, T, F, G, H, Z, X, C, V
All of those with a Shift + variant.
A few of them with with an Alt + variant (only the ones that are comfortable and rarely used)
3 special buttons on the side of the mouse. All three bound with a shift, ctrl, and alt variant totalling 12 binds.
The further the keys reach from WASD out of ideal comfort range, are binds that are used less commonly for example, "T" is a bit more of a reach than "E". So T would is a less common ability used.
This gives me about 50 battle keybinds. Which I have found to be perfectly adequate to bind everything I need in battle, including potions, pet movements, focus target, etc.
I may have a few others I am forgetting about right now becuase im not at home but I think thats everything!
Whichever way you choose just make sure your hands are comfortable. Its awkward at first but your hands will get use to it all.

This.
Everyone has different hands and a different comfort zone. For me, Everything between 1-7/8 is comfortably in reach, others don't like anything past 4, some people think it's acceptable to click on very rarely used skills and therefore place them somewhere off, others want to be able to reach everything without touching the mouse.
Do what feels right and comfortable to you.

I avoid the mouse whenever humanly possible, so my K&M layout is more like 99% keyboard.
I use the XI-layout for directional controls, with the numpad being the character movement, and the cameras being the arrow keys which I can run with my thumb. This frees up my left hand to run my macros. I have my most critical abilities, the ones I'll need to use while running, so to speak, set to 1-5, then the second most important onces set to the CTRL and ALT 1-5 spots. Less important abilities that don't need to be used while running are in the remaining key slots. I can hit the ALT and CTRL keys with my left thumb. That leaves the right CTRL key available for a Teamspeak bind.
Then I have another dozen customized CTRL+ letter binds for things like traveling (CTRL+T), summoning my battle bird (CTRL B), and riding/flying on it (CTRL F.) These binds are universal across all classes.
The only thing this layout can't do is move ground targets in battle. That's a failure of the UI, and from what I understand it's also a pain on controller. So if I do have to adjust my ground target, I sigh and grab my mouse for that.
