What future weapons will tanks have?

Blue mage as a magical based tank- the class has always had more and better defensive spells than even whitemage, it's usually one of the more distinguished parts of it's peculiar kit. The class has historically been able to use flails in what few games have provided them, though I wouldn't mind scimitars or some more monsteresque melee weapon- might be a good condidate for the lantern shields others have mentioned.

I would love Bluemage to be a tank, that would be my instant new main job. ヽ(´▽`)/

A piece of cloth was a weapon dancers used in Final Fantasy Tactics. They also used purses so if you ever dreamed of being a over masculine Highlander/Roe beating up Bahamut like a old granny it could come true!

What about a transformation tank? Like bluemage that transforms into a beast or a voidsent in order to tank and uses other forms as a dps stance.

I want a dancer tank so badly. I played Dancer as a tank in FFXI. I'm getting a little tired out of all the slow heavy armored tanks we have. I usually main tanks in mmorpgs but ffxiv so far doesn't have the thematic variety I'm looking for. I play Monk tank in WoW and Stalker tank in Wildstar and much more. Any game that offers a light/medium armored tank option makes me so happy.

Give me something a little more graceful or quick SE please ;_; I want to go back to maining tanks so badly but none of the ones we have vibe with me very well.

Dancer tank with fans, or Red Mage tank with shield + rapiers (Phalanx could make up for the Defense stat, just saying). Would break away from the mold of heavy armor = tank classes.
