why is the GIL trading limit still 1 million?

I tried to buy something from someone that's worth 30 million without going through the market board and I just noticed that the GIL trading limit is still 1 million... what gives? I just want to avoid paying over 1 million in tax on market board and now I have to take a risk of getting scammed by trading 30 times?

With the current state of the game and the price of most of the things, the trading limit should be at least 10 million. Making it staying at 1 million will not help battling RMT in any way and just opens a lot of opportunity for people to get scammed.

    What you guys think?

You don't pay tax if you purchase from the same area the retainer is selling from. Look next to the retainer name and it will tell you. Warp there and buy it = no tax.

Thank you and I know about this, but will the seller not losing anything to tax in this way as well? Basically I'm trying to buy multiple expensive goods from the same seller and asking him to give me a deal. Figured that it would be easier just to trade face to face... guess that's not happening...

Indeed, the Seller will lose 1.5mil selling a 30mil item. For big purchases like that I prefer to do manual trades as well. I've never run into an end-game scammer before. These situations can be handled by GM's anyways so it's not a big deal as long as you have a verbal agreement in the chat log.

Honestly I think they just want to force people to take the tax, it's a huge Gil sink in this game, you buying that item would result in 1.5 million Gil taken out of the economy. It really helps lol... Now that there's no more housing for people to waste money on, TAXES lol

Also what Dante said, if you buy in that city-state, there is no tax for the buyer, only the seller. If you buy out of the city-state, there is a 5%tax for you and 5% tax for them, so on that 30million purchase, it would take out 3million

I understand what you are saying and it does indeed suck but I'm not sure square is going to make it easier to avoid gil sinks. They implemented them for an economical purpose and letting people circumvent that would kind of be counter to their entire implementation. Not saying I agree with said purpose but rather I doubt you'll get them to budge on the issue.

Without gilsinks, that item you want wouldn't be 30m right now.

From what I've read, as long as you hash out the agreement in chat, GMs WILL protect you if the other party tries to cheat or scam you. Make the trade, if the other guy tries to run off with the goods, call a GM to report it and be sure to mention that the agreement was made in chat so that they can examine the chat history to verify that you are in the right.

As was said, though, this kind of scamming really isn't very common. It is likely you'll never have to contact a GM.

Alright thank you. I guess in that case I'll just do manual trading then.
