Please reread my post. I know they would be level-synced and that their potencies would be nerfed. I said as much here:

Even if our levels were to be synced and we maintained our moves, we would still have a ridiculous advantage that would make each and every dungeon a cakewalk.
    And here:

Now, bring a level 60 MCH into the same dungeon with those moves (although nerfed), and you have several rotations available to you.
    However, your missing one thing.

Your saying "More" of something is bad.

A healer who heals more is bad?

A DPS who DPSes more is bad?

A Tank who tanks better and deals more damage is bad?

No, the group has to adjust to that, which makes them better actually.

That, in itself is a challenge.
Firstly, no, I did not state that "more" of something was bad. I never even came close to it. I actually stated the exact opposite. Please don't twist my words. In my example, I said that a level 15 CNJ might give up trying to heal a WAR who has 20k HP. This is not "bad" -- this is literally impossible. There would be no point in it, especially in a level 15 dungeon. They would run out of MP.

You've also simplified my statement about DPS to the point of being outright erroneous. I stated that a DPS who can consistently rip enmity away from a lower-level tank or a DPS that kills things so quickly that the other DPS doesn't have time to learn how to use their class would be bad.

I also never stated anything about an overgeared or over-leveled tank. I mentioned a tank that could not hold enmity due to being out-leveled by everyone else, but not what you've stated.

The funny thing is, I was literally just in a guildhest where the tank, a Gladiator, was near the bottom of the enmity chart on the boss -- even below mine, and I was healing. Because almost everyone was much higher-leveled than he was. This isn't a matter of "learning how to tank better" or anything of the sort. It was literally impossible for him to keep enmity from me if I dared attack the boss. The only thing he learned was that he couldn't hold enmity from people that out-leveled and outgeared him, even when synced.

And in case you're wondering, I only had access to Malefic, Combust, and Benefic. And I never used Combust. Seeing how horribly my small advantage worked out for the tank in a simple guidlhest, I would dread to see what your suggestion would do to dungeon runs.

Removing the lockout on higher-level skills under level sync is one of the few things they could do to help make running old content more bearable.

You keep talking a lot about skill. If you can do well with fewer abilities, surely that's a stronger indication of your so-called 'skill' than someone who does well with every ability in the game?

You claim it's a punishment for wanting to help people? No no no. It's an encouragement to help people. By forcing only one way to play, and providing alternative incentives, it means you're more likely to help out a player who actually NEEDS that help, not just your friends. If things went the way you want, the low level roulette's would dry up and force new players to team up for everything. It would be catastrophic.

Yes, I realize the current incentives probably need a review; that's a topic for another post. However, the fact remains that no one would ever want to lose their skills given a choice, and it would ultimately drive away new players who are forced to team up with instant-kill squads just to progress through the most basic of dungeons. It's no fun to be a spectator in a video game, I can assure you of that.

You're level 60, you wouldn't be getting experience regardless.

And you want to do this... by kicking the crap out of low-level content in a weird half-assed level sync? I don't follow.

There's a difference between ignorance and lack of skill.

More people being worse than you doesn't actually change your relative skill level at all though. If you're already bad, more people being worse than you doesn't make you any less bad than you already are. If you wanna be good, then go get good.

    TL: DR.

Game doesn't punish you for wanting to help people. It's actually a lot easier compared to other MMOs to help low-levels learn dungeons/class abilities because they start out with fewer abilities to master, and you can return to a low-level dungeon at their level and help them finish it. Not a lot of games offer the level-sync option to help that friend get the maximum amount of EXP while also getting experienced help.

Show them that you're a nice and helpful individual rather than someone just trying to show off their cool pixels.

No. It does not. If they're worse than you, that means you're still terrible. You're just a preening peacock that wants to strut around the "plebs" thinking it'll attract some pea hens.

It's like saying that you're overweight and you would rather be around people heavier than you just so you can pretend to be skinny when, in fact, you're still a fat body.

    I give this troll thread a 3/10

Well, I never said I didn't do well with fewer abilities. I think your speaking or talking about someone else. I said, it is so boring that it makes me pretty much want to log out and do something else like use the forums. I play games to have fun, not be bored and work. Unless they are going to pay me.

The basic concept -- going in level-synched but with all skills you've gained unlocked -- could be an interesting mode in addition to the extra modes we already have. So your gear and stats would be lowered to level-appropriate, meaning your skills would do damage consistent with a character of that level. It'd also mean you wouldn't have a WAR with 20k hp, because that would also be synched down to reasonable amounts.

But... the problem comes when you add in all those traits. You know, the ones that enhance your skills. So DoTs would last longer, a MNK's Second Wind would heal them for more, BLM would have higher stacks of Astral/Umbral, and SMN/SCH would have more Aetherflow stacks. (Off the top of my head; I'm sure there are plenty of more examples along the same lines.) It would make the 'semi-synched' characters terribly unbalanced compared to fully synched or level-appropriate unsynched characters.

So yes, it'd be an interesting mode, but like the Unsynched and Minimum IL modes it's only appropriate to use in a fully preformed group. And if it was added (which I think would be a very interesting thing), that would probably be one of the restrictions. The other would probably be less exp for mobs, since you would be stronger than if fully synched.
