    Moving House and Ishgard

When Ishgard housing comes in (obviously will eventually)...please do not allow people who want to transfer from older cities to have early access to the Ishgard plots i.e. before everyone else who is potentially a first time buyer. Either give them access/the chance to look at, find and/or buy/transfer the same time as everyone else who is buying one or delay transfers slightly so people who do not have one have a decent chance to get on the housing ladder with the new houses, do not give those who want to transfer 'earlier' access than the rest. There is logic behind my concern even if might end up being flawed logic maybe.

Here is the logic behind my concern...the transfer process might be opened up to current home owners before everyone else due to maybe taking additional time to complete a transfer in game rather than just buying instantly with gil and the concern is dependent on how they implement the transfer system. That additional time being deducted from the starting access time for normal buyers to compensate. I am jumping the gun and just probably worried about nothing but as we do not know how will work, all concerns are both valid and invalid at the same time until information about it comes out.

It might be better to wait till more information comes out but I think not many peoples minds are that devoid of imagination or remain idle, so people are probably like me already trying to imagine how will work hence the concern based on my imagination which I admit could be wrong or potentially flawed.

Generally, the people who would move to Ishgard (if it is available for housing) are FCs and players looking to upgrade to a bigger house, or maybe to leave Ul'dah (that tends to be the least liked neighborhood purely for aesthetic reasons). If they do that, they will probably leave their previous plot on the market (since you can't own 2 houses or 2 FC houses at the same time).

I think the fear that players will be able to transfer the price of their existing houses in Limsa, Ul'dah, and Gridania to buy a house in Ishgard is completely unfounded. SE would simply make the new houses equal opportunity. Existing house owners would have to abandon their existing house (putting it on the open market with 0 gil gain from the sale) ,spend the gil to buy their new land and house, and then refill it with furniture. It's possible some FCs and individuals will have the money stored for this (experience says SE prices the houses 2 months ahead of the highest income), but a lot of FCs with houses have been pouring money in to building airships. It still costs a few millions to rank up and build a fleet of 4 top-tier ships.

On the topic of moving houses though, I actually imagined something like Howl's moving castle when I first saw the thread name. It would be interesting to see that in Idyllshire actually as a sort of goblin tech. There's no land purchases. You just buy the house and have it walk around to meet you at specific ports in the cities. It may or may not be gated behind the Alexander storyline, but it'd make sense and it's easy enough to get through Alex NM.

I am fairly sure you can own 2 or more houses at the same time though ... Not 100% sure so apologies if I'm wrong, but I know at least 3 people who claim to have bought multiple plots

Yeah. I just checked. You can't own 2 houses. You can however have your FC own a FC house and your character own a personal house. So, there are players like that who made a personal FC specifically for buying a house in the early days (or had it handed to them when the FC dissolved) and then bought a second house when personal housing was available. There's no player who owns 3 houses though.

no individual character can possibly own 3 houses, but an account can own as many houses as they have level 50, max GC rank ALTS on each server, though.

if they were smart about it (which for housing is no sure thing), they would release at least 8 wards.

Wards 1-4 would not allow moving for the first week.
Wards 5-8 would not allow purchases for the first week.

or do the same thing with the main and subdivisions.

on the weekly reset after the patch, lift all the restrictions.

It will make little difference realistically. Everybody should have access at the exact same time and houses should be limited to one per character. If they want to transfer then do it, the old house becomes available.

I thought I just read in another thread they are going to have away to upgrade houses if you want?
Sounds like you pick a new house and your old house goes up for sale and furnishings are moved.

We are still in the planning phase of this system, but once there are developments we will be sure to let you know.
