My theory is that each piece of gears gain Spiritbond XP based on its own level, not the XP you gain yourself, because I myself spiritbonded my Velveteen Tight while my Dodore or Vintage stuff are like 20% only. Ring usually spiritbond the fastest as well.
i don't know about this although i'm not gonna say it not true, the biggest thing i found when Spiritbonding gear (and this is also mentioned in the Materia user manual next ot the Gob) is the level and class of the gear. i can get spiritbond on a peice of gear that is way over lvl and not for my class but it is painfully slow, where as a peice of gear ment for my class level (+/-4) will go up much much faster.

I don't know, I'm lvl 50, the Dodore is obviously much closer to my lvl than the Dated Velveteen Tights, and Dodore is all by intention good as new (you can meld it too), so that would abolish the theory that Dated spiritbond slower.i don't know about this although i'm not gonna say it not true, the biggest thing i found when Spiritbonding gear (and this is also mentioned in the Materia user manual next ot the Gob) is the level and class of the gear. i can get spiritbond on a peice of gear that is way over lvl and not for my class but it is painfully slow, where as a peice of gear ment for my class level (+/-4) will go up much much faster.
While I'm at it, Dated Velveteen Half Apron (Black) is close to max now. Dodore, Vintage Thighboots are still ages away.
