I love En Avant just being a dash forward as a controller player. Would it be possible to have a way to make Sukuchi work like En Avant. While still keeping the abilitiy to have it be ground targeting for the people that enjoy that version?

I think it's better for a melee to have an ability which takes you directly into melee. Dancer is ranged so it could actually use the ability to skip around the battlefield more. since at range you often find yourself needed to dodge the wide end of AoEs
Purpose of En Avant is to dodge AoE's while dancing. Moving while dancing cancels the stance.
The extra click on Shukuchi makes it feel incredibly clunky, especially in a high pace environment like extremes or raids. Take Dragoon's Elusive Jump for example. It feels dramatically cleaner to use than hitting a button, waiting a 1/5 of a second to target, which also doesn't work if you click too far away, then clicking again to confirm the spot.
You can use '' /ac "Shukuchi" <t> '' to cause a one click teleport directly into your target. The extra click on Shukuchi makes it feel incredibly clunky, especially in a high pace environment like extremes or raids. Not so great for targeted repositioning though, since having no target goes into ground target mode for the second click. It does allow you to target a friendly as a valid location so you can sorta use it as an escape too, provided you have something to target. Basically, going to a specific location requires the double click, but its single click if you have a target.
So if all you want is a 'gap closer', the aforementioned macro works just fine.
Maybe SE can add a "sort of" smart cast hotkey / macro features and then a few extra parameters for that macro like:
/ac shukuchi <gtmo>
/ac shukuchi <cmo>
(gtmo-> ground target mouse over) will cast targetable aoe at location of your mouse, will not read a character target (doesn't center the aoe even if you're hovering over a person/enemy). (cmo-> center mouse over) will however center to a target if one is applicable, otherwise will continue to target your mouse position like gtmo
/ac shukuchi <distance:s20>
Casts a target location spell straight ahead of you 20y (may use left, right, back too- thought about compass coordinates but that might get messy lol) and if the distance is farther than the spell works it'll just use the max distance of the ability. This would probably be the more helpful command for turning Shukuchi into En Avant for console/controller palyers.
Smart cast hotkey/toggle in menus could basically bake <gtmo> into all AoE palcement spells unless you have a macro that says otherwise.
If you're using gtmo though.. it's very important to remember where your mouse is(and adds extra fun/danger to clickers lol).

There were a couple of videos which said they can't move while dancing, although it's likely that they were confused by the fact that you the only ACTIONS you can use while dancing are the steps and En Avant. Or they were talking about Improvisation, which cancels if you move. Since most of the videos I've seen allow the DNC to move while performing, it seems like a misunderstanding.
Who prefers the ground target? I mean, sure, have it take you direct to an enemy instead of moving you a set distance, that'd be a valid point, but ground targeting? It sucks.
I hate every ground target ability in this game, it's the worst version of any ability could have.
