No. I think action combat is great but I prefer ffxiv combat, a bit more time to think about what I will do next and what the boss does.

I would probably like it better but, having said that, it can be done poorly and the system here works well enough for casters.



I played TERA simply for the combat but it was so split-second-do-this-all-the-time-or-wipe that I gave it up. I'd like to see some action oriented moves but also some strategic ones that force you to think and plan ahead.
I would much rather have action combat to be honest. The combat now is sooooo boring, idk how it ever got approved. I mean every encounter is the SAME rotation ever time. Trash mobs for melee classes work the same as bosses, same rotation. It makes me sleepy just playing melee classes. Not sure how ANYONE can find this combat "fun" honestly. I play WHM now and prey people do not dodge aoe's just to break stuff up a bit. We just need more control over stuff, why can a PLD not block @ will? Why leave it up to RNG? Seems silly to me.![]()
Because it's a traditional RPG, you get stats and Rng, been like this since tabletop; only difference is the comp rolls the dice for you.I would much rather have action combat to be honest. People have no problem holding up a shield in Dark Souls or Eso. It didn't work here because the combat system. Why would it make sense holding a shield up when most other skills are auto attack or GCD.
Screw speed, bring tactical depth cause speed doesn't cover lack of tactics. Get rid of Auto-attack and GCD and this game's combat is close to Dark Souls if enemies were smarter. I'd prefer the combat to be closer to 1.23 or FFXI personally. Let TP/MP dictate when I use a skill not some timer to Sadam Hussein my rotation or flow.

Yaaaaassssss~ I played TERA for a few years and the fast paced healing was ridiculously fun. It took me a while to get used to XIV's slower pace and tbh, if it weren't for race/gender locked classes I'd probably still be playing TERA more.



It’d be fun... until I play Bard.



FFXIV's combat works really well, but I'd still love an action combat system. Maybe in the next Final Fantasy MMO.
