Ye I would
Ye I would
No, I would not. If I wanted to play some crappy twitch real time action combat system I would not be playing FFXIV.

I pretty much prefer the traditional RPG setup we've got now (Well, it's a lot faster paced these days but you get the idea)
If I could make any change to the system, it would be to make it less actiony and more about tactics/strategy, personally.
hmm what about a type of game play where (lets hypothesis) the two tanks are clashing swords with two bosses, the tank( the person) has to be pressing a button on his controller in order to give more time to his team to kill adds. If the tank fails, the boss cleaves everyone, dealing one hit KO. so like pressing square (multiple times) for a some time, and even the camera closes in to add more dramatization :P? This would be nice effect added in savage or any other content if you ask me.
like for bard, the camera would close in, and they would have to shot arrows to something (lets say a bomb in a boss fight) so it doesn't explode. Only bard or mch could do that. what about the people w/o a brd or mch though? well then we can add smn or blm since they are also range.
This would change the fighting style of FFXIV dramatically, but would it be a good idea to implement this style is the question.

Yes indeed, yes please, I would like this very much.

Probably not.
I prefer slower paced combat because my reaction time isn't very good.
As the title suggests.
-Pretty much every melee attack is aoe to some degree
-Ranged dps actually have to aim
-Animation locks on every skill (because we all love animation locks)
-Every class/job has a self heal, and dodge/block ability that you can use every 5-10 seconds
Would anyone prefer this over the traditional combat we have now?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPE

Eh. I came here from an action game, and while I enjoyed the combat, I don't think it really fits FFXIV. Several people that played the other game with me now play FFXIV with me and the playstyle is honestly kind of a breath of fresh air to all of us.

Only if the action combat was good...
As someone who is way into DMC, Bayonetta, God of War, and games of that ilk, I always find it weird that people seem to latch onto an MMO just because it has "action combat" even if that combat is mediocre at best. To be fair, at a certain point it all comes down to opinions and whatnot, but personally, every "action combat" MMO has bored me to tears. Vindictus is the only one I would ever defend. It's really good, but it's also heaivly instanced.
I have to agree, most action combat games are horrible. I think Wizadry Online did it fairly well and as it stands Dragons nest has caught my attention and been enjoyable. Even though it was a Byond game the FF3 (i think it was) was pretty fun to in the way it was handled in an MMO format.
