Bonus Front Line XP - How to get?

So we all know that the exp that you receive from last to first place is 200, 300, and 400 respectively. Sometimes I notice that I get more than the base, but cannot figure out why.

I got battle fever and got no additional XP. Took 6 nodes in one match and no additional XP. Second highest dmg and no additional XP.

Then yesterday comes, and I didn't do much since the two enemies fought each other most of the time, and managed to get 540 XP instead of the base 400. My buddy was in there too, queued using roulette so we didn't premake, and only got the base 400.

What gives?

Not really except you have fast queues and go for 3th place which would be kinda lol

no, it just means over an infinite number of matches the average xp per match will trend towards a range around 2nd place, assuming you have no control over your teams performance, naturally (and obviously) this means premades are always an exception to this

And here I thought i was doing something awesome for getting a large chunk of XP, but instead it was because I sucked.

It could also have been your challenge log. Weekly challenges reset on Tuesdays. You get bonus Exp for participating in 7 FL matches and winning 3 matches. It's a nice boost that usually contributes to pretty good chunk of your rank progression if you get em. The sames challenges can be claimed for Wolves Den as well... that is, if you can ever actually successfully que for it.

Only kind of. Losing consistently gives more exp than winning every other match. If you get 2nd place eight matches in a row, you'll build up your EXP bonus and gain a decent amount. If you get 2nd place 3 matches in a row, then get one 1st place, then get three more 2nd places, you'll wind up with less EXP because that win in the middle reset your bonus chain.

Of course, getting 1st eight times will still net you more EXP than getting 2nd with the bonus would.

2nd place counts too dude. even keeps the loss rate if you get 3rd then 2nd.

He's referring to increasing the loss bonus. So every 3rd place loss is an additional xp bonus boost (which you still retain if you get 2nd place, but don't increase), and it all resets if you get first place.
