Don't worry. Yoshi already mentioned that we will see new jobs earliest in 4.0 with a new Expansion.
Then next tank class should be this. There needs to be a tank that benefits from the blunt reduction given by the monk.
I also agree with SAM being a dps. The last thing we need is a job that focuses on parry as its main mitigation tool, especially in FFXIV where parry is and after thought.
I'd rather not see another tanking class before they address current imbalances and prove they are working to avoid poor design concepts in the future.
I could honestly see samurai going as either tank or dps though I'm fairly sure any new thing we get will be strictly Job only rather than something like say... Arcanist that can eventually go dps or heals. That being said, if Sam were to be a tank, I'd rather see it based on the Blademaster in Bravely Default. A class that specializes in damage reflection and countering to mitigate damage. With appropriate caps and potencies in place to prevent it from being overpowered of course.
That being said however, the game needs another two handed melee weapon class that isn't a tank. We already have the 2h axe and the 2h sword for the tanks, for that reason I could see Samurai as being a tank that shares the same armor as drg's.

If SAM used the Iaido form of removing sword to attack then immediately sheathing while using the sheath to parry or block in instances could end up with some cool animations that wouldnt be too fast moving for a tank.
yo man we dont need a 4th tank we got enough problems as it is lol
They should focus on addressing issues with the jobs already existing. Then focus on creating more jobs options from the existing classes. Like Marauder could go into a Berserker dps job, Archer could become Ranger, more DPS than bard with no support skills. Rogue could become Blue Mage or Dancer, Pugilist could give in an evasion based tank job like Brawler or another DPS like puppermaster. Red mage could be from gladiator. There's a lot of jobs they could create from the already existing classes and they would be easier and faster to create.
As for SAM, i would rather see it as a DPS. We need another melee 2h DPS.
They already said that they'll never do that again. They regret the decision they took with SMN and SCH both being tied to Arcanist.
And for the "They should fix the already existing jobs before creating new ones" seriously guys. We're gonna have new job(s) for every expansion. It's a completely normal thing. Job balance comes in patches, new jobs are coming with expansions. That's how it works and one will never prevent the other from happening.
Evasion based tanks aren't plausible in FFXIV's tanking meta of fluff damage > tank buster > repeat until boss dies.
A tank who can't guarantee he won't die to the tankbuster will be the last pick at all times.
