Samurai

Samurai brings to mind more of a dps kind of role than tank, though the idea of being a evasive kind of tank could fit the theme but seems a bit of a stretch to get working me. Personally wouldn't want to see it as a tank since we already have sword/shield and 2handed sword setup for tanks already, and another sword based tank seems a bit dull haha. Would be more interesting to see a sword based dps if you ask me.

Also irks me a little with posts saying to not work on new class till the ones now are fixed. Yes, the ones we have now do need fixing, but why not plan for the future as well and think of ideas of how to better balance new classes into the fold with what we have now. If not we'll once again deal with the same treadmill of problems no matter what is currently fixed when we don't think about what new classes will adversely affect the classes we have now.

over time I have grown on the idea of a samurai
hopefully not as an extra job though, have it as a branch off of some new swordsman class

I don't like Samurai as a Tank.
Come on, another Bi-Hander Tank after Warrior and Darkknight, that uses Swords like the Darkknight (Even though they are Katanas).

If Samurai would be a thing, than please make him a DD, so we have at least one Bi-Handed DD.

As Tank I would like to see a Vikings charakter with two one hand axes. A direction that would be unique in the XIV Universe and would fit great, due to no, one Handed Axe in the game currently.

For Ranged I could see a Red- or Blue Mage.

For the story introduction, we could be part of a War between a state of Asien Warriors (Job class Samurai) that fights a state of Vikings (Job Class Berserker).

That could SAM stances: 1-handed speedy attacks, 2-handed slower beefy attacks

thats not warrior right? its fighter or somethin
we could have that in the game. have that and samurai branching
or did fighter turn into warrior later

Fighter is actually the japanese name for Warrior in FF games as well as Knight is the japanese name for Paladin.

warrior is basically fighter wrapped up with some other niche ff class themes like viking and berserker. Note all the red in their class armor sets.
