    Attribute values

Do the attribute values, i.e. Dexterity, Determination, Skill Speed, etc. has a value of 1=1 or does 1 point to a particular attribute weigh differently than 1 point to another? I was reading a MCH guide and someone posted this:

    w/ GB
    WD - 10.71
    Dexterity - 1.000
    Determination - 0.125
    Critical Hit Rate - 0.140
    Skill Speed - 0.020

I'm not entirely sure where this information was taken from but any ideas? I'm fairly new to FFXIV, so I'm not too sure how the attribute and offensive/defensive property systems work.

Information like that is usually taken from theorycrafting (read: Math nerds) that figures out damage values and stat values.

Usually it uses your main stat as fix point, here DEX and the gives out how much of another stat is worth compared to 1 Dex

Like here, where you'd need 8 Det to get the equivalent of 1 DEX or 50 Skillspeed for 1 Dex. But since HW the sidestats like Det Speed Crit are worth way less then in 2.x so It's really only relevant when you compare two pieces with the same amount of DEX. In 2.x it happened on some items that the sidestats outweighed the difference of 10 ilvl, in HW its pretty unlikely =.=

Where can you find all those value relations? And why are all the values compared to your base stat? What if I wanted to compare an item with Skill Speed and another with Determination? I'm sorry, I'm just not used to this.

The values are worked out mathematically by the players themselves by hitting a training dummy for a very long time, then changing your equipment so your stats change, then hitting the dummy again for a very long time. You record this information in a program that will not be named and compare the numbers, then work out how much each stat adds to your damage output.

At the moment, the theorycrafters are still discovering discrepancies and new stuff with these numbers, so we can't trust them to be 100% right all the time but they definitely give us an idea.

Say that you have two MCH gear pieces, both have the same amount of DEX but one gives 10 DET and one gives 10 CRT. 10 x .125 is less than 10 x .140, so the piece with crit will add more to your damage output (if measured over a long fight, at least). Skillspeed is fun because it speeds up your casting and skill use, but generally is a very bad stat compared to DET and CRT for most classes other than BLM (and DRG to a degree because it makes our rotation flow better up to a point), even if skillspeed was improved in the expansion.

Can someone point me to the correct place for smn/sch theorycrafting. I would love to see those numbers.

Start with the Connecting the DoTs job thread in the DPS section. Also, Dervy is doing a lot of in-depth work here, to the point of even providing different values depending on which pet you're using, and explaining why. There's likely other sources but I don't play SMN a lot myself, so...

As for SCH, there're not a lot of numbers available since technically they should focus on healing throughput. We do know that more MND is almost always better in 3.0 (unlike in 2.x, there aren't many gear pieces with enough secondary stats to be worth more than a higher MND piece) and that SCHs like a lot of crit because a crit Adlo means a very big shield and potentially several seconds of free Cleric Stance time.

Healers have a stat gain like this:
    5 determination = 1 mind
    8 mind = 1 Weapon Damage

1 Weapon Damage = ~39 more HP Healed
    1 mind = ~4.7 more HP Healed
    1 determination = ~0.9 more HP Healed
