Exclamation Open World PvP area for faction control.

I understand that PvP is very small to the Playerbase in Final Fantasy XIV. I do Understand that and I am not mad at that and I know people will tell me to go play a game for PvP which I also do that also along with the FFXIV PvP. I feel as if this could go farther and I also feel as if this could also work into getting higher ranks in our Grand Companies which are still locked out at this time for two years and longer now.

I'm not saying give us complete Open World PvP all I am saying is give us an AREA for Open World PvP. Something similar to what we have for the instanced PvP, but for those of us who have weird Schedules have struggles in getting into PvP at late nights etc. I do understand that even these areas can be quiet, but for the most part we could also have some things that influence the PvPers to go play in it. Like for a Grand Company that has most control has a bonus to gains in the instanced PvP and also unlocks the later GC's ranks etc.

Some people suggested duels in the Colosseum area that non-combatants could watch, and it was fairly well-received among the community. But that's about all you'll get out of most of the playerbase, I think. They prefer PVP tucked into instances so they don't have to look at it, "deal with it", or basically be reminded that it exists, even if it doesn't impact them.

The thing to keep in mind is that "deal(ing) with it" in most games entails putting up with spam duel requests and (for open world) ganking. That's why a large number of players shout no to any suggestion of open world pvp by itself. With a few caveats/protections in place, the objections from most of those players go away. There are always going to be players that will say no no matter what protections are in place though.

Obvious place for it would be Carteneau since all factions have their eyes on it and all the fights inside this territory are not considered as hostilities towards other nations. But if they will put a zone like this (and they will have to give some kind of rewards for it or NOONE would go there) this would cause outcry from many people, so yeah, duels is the biggest thing we could expect I think.

yoshida and crew already said no to the Open world pvp, and just fyi yoshida plays pvp mmo....

too much can go wrong with being any form of open world pvp. One being how do we set who we pvp against? GC base? City base? or all out pk system?

And i don't hate pvp, and would like/ wish there was pk system. (we already have the gear binding which was due to pvp)

The majority of people aren't really interested in PvP, and if you make an open PvP zone in any way necessary (by adding rewards that help in PvE) then yes, people will complain.

If it has PvP-only rewards, that's fine. But PvP should never affect PvE. Which brings you back round to nobody ever going there. I'd rather not have even more PvPers crying that PvErs are "ruining" their precious battles by being crap/not caring like has happened with Frontlines giving Eso, ta.

I wouldn't mind if they made people smackable at the Wolves Den Pier. Maybe not killable (ie, they can't drop below 1%), but there's a lot of NPCs there, they'd also have to make players immune to knock backs and at least make stuns/silence not mess with NPC/item windows (I could see people camping the vendors to troll). It'd just make the area a bit more fun, I suppose.

I think it would happen the same thing Happen in Granado Espada in USA, people get tired of it so 95% of the player base switch to the same faction.
